I agree with marschun. this forum is flooded with freaks now. u cant state any opinion or ull be labelled a troll by weirdos and losers
this forum almost reminds me of the forum for a game called anarchy online. developer Funcom taking retarded suggestions from no lifers who have control over the forum because they stay on it 24/7 and block out all other opinions turned a good (and at the time revolutionary) mmorpg into a farce.
in my opinion the only romance that was non creepy and had good story and char development is with subject zero. the others are rediculous. romance with a fish, a dinosaur and a chicken legged freak in a robot suit. id rather romance a klingon
there was too much devoted resources on romance subplots and not enough on actual character depth. hence all the backstory of the team mates being identical, stereotypical and predictable
A wierdo and loser call others wierdo's and losers.
You do realize there are people out there (hell maybe a vast majority) who deem anyone who would play an RPG or MMORPG a freak and a loser (that means you!). Your here posting on a game forum playing the same nerd game we all are. You just don't realize how ridiculous you look trying to put people down for how they want to experience the game.
I would have to question your personal obscession as well, considering 90% of your recent posts have been in romance threads.

It's fun. And much easier to talk about and speculate on than, say, ammo.

Part of a great movie is seeing people fall in love through adversity or derivation of that. An RPG is a ROLE playing game. they want you to get into the character. I bet almost every single person loves the story and action as much or more as any character.
ME is Shepard's story....and playing Shepard the way any of us want to is what makes it so intriguing and fun. I don't get aggravated about people wearing Brett favre Jerseys or having red Sox shrines. So what if people like Garrus or Tali? People everywhere get just as excited about Star Wars, Trek, Wonder Woman, Mario, The Yankees, or whatever. Is derek jeter any more "real" for the average person than Garrus? imagination takes us places our normal lives can't....it is called fantasy or science fiction for a reason.
I don't write fan fic, or have visions of an ME character, but really who cares. I heartily embrace the fiction aspects of RPGs and movies. Really is liking Garrus any more strange than liking an elf named Legolas---both are just as unrealistic?

Jokes aside, I agree with some of your points. Its not a dating sim. But people are supporting their favorite characters through art, fanfics, discussions, etc. Why is that wrong? I understand your frustration with the character threads and bumping other topics down. I can rationalize that.
But Bioware are masters at character development and growth. That is what they do best. They make you love certain characters and hate others. They make play to the emotions of the players and make them care about what happens with each one of them. I don't think they should make the "sex" scenes more graphic but they wanted to make you, the player, feel connected with the other characters.
You can get your point across without ranting...

Kelly: "You have 13 messages commander."
Shepard checks the messages.
Joker: Let's go Bowling...
Tali: I am feeling lonely, why don't you spend more time with me.
Garrus: Want to go see big turian teeties?
Shepard shoots himself.

Some others of us, however, like a good love story and want to discuss that aspect of the game and the characters involved in that love story.

You paid for the game. Play it however you want. But you didn't buy my copy of the game, so I'll play it the way I want.
If someone finds the relationships the most compelling part of the game for them, there's nothing wrong with that at all.
THIS ^^^^^^^
Props to the OP for telling me what I can like in the game, why I can play it, and what I should get out of it.
Quite the quad you have.

Why do you even care? Just ignore it in game and don't visit the threads.
I personally care becuase of finite resources, even with the success of both games, the developers will have a budget and a time limit. Choices have to be made, what to concentrate on, what to develop more what less. What to add, what to leave out. Every line of dialogue, every scene and every moment in the game has a price tag, it is like this with every business project and the making of Mass Effect 3 is also a business project.
For example in ME 2 having more squad members meant having less dialogue with each character. I see people on this boards saying Bioware dropped the ball with this and that, characters were too shallow bla bla bla. What people do not want to understand is that Bioware catered to almost every demand people made after ME1 and this is the result. To give fans what they demand, something has to be left out.
It is simply not possible to add everything in the game or to satisfy every wish. The argument that "If you dont like it don't use it, but it should still be an option.." is just ridiculous. The fact that something gets put into the game means something else is not, its inevitable and arguing otherwise is just wishful thinking.
As i mentioned before i enjoyed the romances and would like them to continue in ME 3, but i don't want them to become the centre of the story.
As for people telling the OP to ignore the threads whatever, its kinda hard isn't it? Because if it weren't you would have ignored this particualr thread.
