I find it enormously useful in Insanity difficulty for locking down enemies or a weapon power bonus so i only need to use 1 shot to kill it instead of 2 shots. Cryo Blast is also great because you can fire it while the enemy is in cover and time it so the enemy will pop out by the time cryo blast reaches him. This way you can fire cryo blast without being shot at, then shoot him with your weapon in relative safety afterward.

It's also great to freeze something then punch it to death. This is especially good against krogan enemies who normally make you use up a lot of ammo to finish him off.

Edit: So no, I don't agree with the need to change the power.  I will say that they should give more helpful hints or tutorials to players who seek them (like an advanced advanced-training codex? )

I don't think the Cryo powers are useless by any means on any difficulty.



I think that thisisme8 and Gatsby have proven this pretty well.



I try to have some type of Cryo ability with me at all times, even if I have to take Mordin.



Krogan become pretty easy when they can't move and take double damage

I use cryo on pistol users since ME1 and on my whole squad since ME2 and wouldn't have it any other way. I'm currently capturing an insanity walktrhough with it for the non believers.
