Well, less of a suggestion on how to change the class, but rather, the environment to add some more tactically interesting scenarios:
Create an analog to 'Fragile Crates' called 'Sturdy Crates' which can't be destroyed by gunfire/punches, but can be affected by Pull/Throw/Singularity/Concussive Shot/Heavy Weapons. Now you have some interesting uses for Pull to force enemies out of cover by removing the cover (and then maybe throwing it at them).
Of course, the enemy AI would be able to do that too, and there would be more limited unmovable cover in the middle of areas (really, why are there waist-high counter tops in the middle of every single room in Mass Effect?).
Obviously this would not apply to the existing game, but would make for exciting scenarios for DLC, expansions and ME3.
