One would have to question your "real-life" human on human relationships, when a few peoples interest in the game characters makes you want to start a thread to insult them.

Again, you play the same game. A nerd calling others nerds, see my point?

No.

I admit to being a nerd.  Have no problems with nerds.  And I am not talking about general interest in the characters obviously.  I find them interesting too.  but I am not IN love with them...

One might have to question whether you are though.

Funny I dont recall ever even posting in any of those threads.

I just annoyed when people feel the need to put others down, based on assumptions, or their own insecurity.   I highly doubt any of the "Insert charactermancer here" are actually "in love" with with a fictional character either, they are just really into them as they pertain to the story.

Just like you feel the need to make assumptions about others life, such as having friends, girlfriends etc.   its a pointless thing to insult anyone on over the internet.

I mean for all I know you are some 500 lb fat ass living  in his parents basement friendlass, ass pounding his mail order blowup doll nightly.

For all you know...........

Plus I don't recall actually insulting anyone.

Me too and I don't surf the net looking for or producing scantily clad images of Tali and the like.

Small question-- Have you actually read the threads? I can't speak for the other fans. Though I will assume what I'm about to say applies to them as well, or at least I hope it does. Just because someone is obsessed finds a character incredibally kickass, doesn't mean they surf the 'net looking for porn of them. I've read the Tali thread. That crap is frowned upon. This trope is now in full swing

what do you use for lube on that low grade plastic? I imagine it could get rough.   I mean do you clean the blowup doll out afterward? Could be a health hazard.

This thread is for all those who find the Love interest topics in these forums a little disturbing and for all those who actually have real life human-human relationships.

Interspecies fans (real life:sick: or otherwise:o) need not apply.  Just for the hell of it!

I have a real life relationship, and I find the LI's in game to be a fun part of the game. Considering the fact that computer games, especially RPGS, are the realm of geeks in general, are you sure this is the argument you want to make?

Of course psychologically speaking there is a certain segment of the forum population that view the LI's in game as an ideal of a relationship in real life they currently lack, but there is nothing wrong with that. I personally love Tali as a character. Even my girlfriend thinks Tali is adorable.

Trying to make broad stroke generalizations about an entire segment of the forum population accomplishes a l lot in revealing a lot more about you, and your intolerance for people that don't think like you than it ever will about those you are attempting to mock.

EDIT: And I don't currently have a RL relationship because my ex is 'unhealth' in the sense of being insane. At least the Mass Effect romances I can exit at will.

Are you saying that the reason people have the Love interest topics is because they are lonely and are trying to fill that void in their pointless lives with that of video game relationships? If so, I believe that you are sadly mistaken.

So what if people make those Love interest topics. It means that they really like the character. It doesn't mean they have a hard on for that character. It doesn't mean anything remotely like that.

And whats this about "inter-species"? Are you a racist? If there were aliens and humanity formed a pact with said alien races, would you hate those races? Do you hate African-American people? Do you hate Latin-American people? Do you hate Asians?

I'll be honest, I find this topic a little offensive.
