Are you saying that the reason people have the Love interest topics is because they are lonely and are trying to fill that void in their pointless lives with that of video game relationships? If so, I believe that you are sadly mistaken.

So what if people make those Love interest topics. It means that they really like the character. It doesn't mean they have a hard on for that character. It doesn't mean anything remotely like that.

And whats this about "inter-species"? Are you a racist? If there were aliens and humanity formed a pact with said alien races, would you hate those races? Do you hate African-American people? Do you hate Latin-American people? Do you hate Asians?

I'll be honest, I find this topic a little offensive.

uuuhhhh.......being anti inter-species does not equal racist.

Kinda like saying being anti interracial doesn't mean you don't dislike asians, blacks, etc....

First of all species and race are not the same thing.  All human races
belong to the homosapien species.  However because you need it
explained to you....humans and hamsters are not of the same species.
If I was anti-hamster does that make me a racist?

This thread is for all those who find the Love interest topics in these forums a little disturbing and for all those who actually have real life human-human relationships.

Interspecies fans (real life:sick: or otherwise:o) need not apply.  Just for the hell of it!

I think you need to lighten up, man.  Having human relationships and also enjoying the love interests from a game are not mutually exclusive.

I'm into my Shepard/Ash pairing.  I talk about it.  I even write fanfics about it.  But I'm also a married adult woman who enjoys activities and friendships outside the game.  You assume too much about people with your post.

Exactly. I love the romance in these games but it doesn't go beyond that. I live a rather normal life outside the game. Not everyone is a basement virgin if they're into the idea of romance.

Okay.  I admit to generalizing.  I too find the relationships interesting and I like the characters.  My comments were mostly aimed at those who seem obsessed and definitely to get a rise out of people.  Like I said just for the hell of it.....I know immature.

Yes you hamster racist! :P

Aliens are different RACES as well as different SPECIES. If aliens decided to come to earth, they would be another race as well as be called a species. We, as one, are also called the human RACE as well human species. Understand?

Btw, I'm making convorsation, I'm not angry ^_^ Hard to tell when reading text on a screen

These love interest threads are a bit weird. I mean the other week I went into the Thane one and I was pounced on by the OP for daring to make a comment. I mean all I said 'was that Thane probably wasn't go to be in ME 3 cause he was dying in ME 2, and that Thane was from a game called Mass Effect and not not a movie called Flatliners'.

Each to their own I suppose but some of these people get really obsessed with pixel characters and that's a bit weird.

No problem.  I am not racist.  Despite aliens being sapient it is still cross species which is different than cross-racial(probably wrong word).  I guess by Mass Effect terms I am being xenophobic.

It's not like a sick obsession like you are making it sound. They like the character. As in personallity and history. Yeah I'm sure there are some who take it a bit far, but not everyone does that. I hope you realize this because it seems to me that you do not understand it.

Take for example, your favorite character in a book. If the author made an announcement that the character was not going to be in the sequal, wouldn't that disapoint you? Sure making threads about it and polls and stuff isn't going to influance BioWare's decision about the character, but the people need to hope it does.

As I said, I admit that there are those who do take it to extremes, but not all are like that. Yes I support Miranda being ME3, but that doesn't mean I'm obsessed. I, personally, liked her character. She had an interesting past, not as interesting as Thane, but she still had an interesting past and personallity.

However, I respect your opinion and apologize if I offended you by anything I have said.

So where is the middle ground where the character is memorable but not captivating and interesting but not compelling?  Seriously, is this a problem with the characters, or our interpretations of them?

I don't think I would go as far as saying its a sick obsession what I was trying to say was that I thought it was a little weird but to each their own.  I just think some people are too OTT with the LI thread.  I mean my Thane comment was mean't as a joke to lighten the mood cause it was way too serious in the Thane thread.

My main Shepard doesn't have any romances, but that doesn't stop him from becoming Space Brosephs with Garrus and Tali.
