Soldier: No real argument here just the only class I have beaten Insanity with so far.

Never played an engineer but the soldier was tons of fun. It's great always having the weapon and ammo type for the job. When I did my soldier I ignored concussive blast completely and got squad disrupter and squad cryo ammo and that way I can always set up my squad to have an ammo type. Also it's the only class that can use the Revenant AR.

I actually love CS. It's decent against barrier and recks people with no protection.

The Engineer was one of my favorite, if not the favorite, playthroughs.

I recommend Engineer. Currently doing a Soldier playthrough but it bores me for some reason.

Whats your bonus skill for your engineer?

Warp Ammo. I think that the Engineer has decent enough abilities that taking another power would just be needlessly sucking cooldown time from Incinerate, Cryo or Drone.

Warp Ammo makes the Engineer viable against all types of defenses and does not need to be monitored

Haven't tried engineer yet, soldier is pretty good, on insanity the sniper is your best friend, especially with the 140% multiplier with heightened adrenaline rush. Having the right ammo for the job is great. Engineer has finally come into its own with CC, hello combat drone! I don't know if I would try it on insanity because of the low shield and hp. A good soldier bonus is geth shield boost, it can absorb more damage or MAKE YOU DO MORE DAMAGE.

Pick the soldier if you want a pretty straightforward play through with no worries

Pick the engineer if you want to use to cool tech skills like cryo blast and incinerate and want to use some strategy

I would turn off squad abilities and go soldier. After that put desired squad abilities on your hot bar and destroy everything. Go engineer if you really like combat drone.

I went Warp ammo with soldier, but AP ammo is a fine choice as well. For bonus weapon go Revenant, it has awesome synergy with hardened adrenaline rush. Don't play scared with the sniper even on insanity, get in your enemy's face and kill.

If you still want to play again after hitting level 30 I suggest dropping the bonus power and getting maxed disrupter ammo, maxed inferno ammo, and squad cryo ammo for your squad. At the start of every mission put cryo ammo on your squad then switch to inferno/disrupter ammo. You will be a scary unstoppable force.

Engineer was my favorite playthrough so far on Insanity, and the easiest by far.  I took Armor Piercing Ammo as my bonus, intending to switch over to Warp Ammo once I got to the Collector areas but I got lazy and never actually switched.  I went with with the AOE Incinerate and Overload, and Explosive Drone.  The Drone is a lifesaver, you can completely lock down Scions and other tough enemies by chain casting Drone on them.

My Soldier is about 1/3 through the game so far, and is pretty fun too.  They can dish out a ton of damage and have pretty good survivability with Hardened Adrenaline Rush.  I took Warp Ammo as my extra power for my Soldier, so I would have an ammo power for each type of defense.  I went with an ammo power because I tend to spend most of my cooldowns on Adrenaline Rush.

Engineers are more fun because they have more variety, soldiers end up spamming adrenaline rush too much. Both are strong classes, though.

Both classes do well in Insanity.

It's up to whether you want to play an aggressive shooter type of game, or a more tactical and methodical type of game. Then again, you could always just spam explosives drones on engineer for EZmode.

Engineer with dominate and AI hack, now that's fun. probably not the most effective, but I just love watching enemies killing each other.

I had no problems with either class on Insanity, but Engineer is too boring for me, so I'd recommend Soldier for sure!

Why not get the best of both worlds as an infiltrator? In terms of bonus powers, I would say geth shield for soldier, and dominate/warp ammo/geth shield boost (depends on playtype, dominate= can control any enemy, warp=gives you a boost against the area you are weakest(barriers or armor for engi), shield boost if you die a lot) for engineer or iniltrator.
