From the article:
The great thing about all of this, and the reason that Heavy Rain may not have worked with any other control scheme, is that everything in the game revolves around the story. This isn't something where QD came up with some cool scenes and then wrapped a story around everything to tie it together; the story is the utmost focus, and everything that you do and everything that happens directly feeds into it, without exception.

THIS, is what a game should strive to be.

The only problem I'm going to have with it is it's just 8 hours. That's gonna suck.

I'm still busy with Mass Effect 2 but I think I'll give this one a look pretty soon.

If I ever get back into console gaming I will definitely pick this title up. I enjoy this kind of gaming and wish it was available for the PC as well. Ah well, can't have it all I guess.

I want it but can't see myself spending 60 bucks for an 8 hour game. I'll wait until it's on sale.

Well 8hrs I would guess is just one play through I would guess. Its kinda like DA:O I would think that even though the length is 8hrs the replay value of this game would be really really high.

Looks completely stupid.

I'm probably the only PS3 owner in the world not excited at all about this game.

I preordered this yesterday. :) Yay. I can't wait! I miss the old Adventure Game days and this is very similar to that in some ways, only with a more cinematic take.

No, because Heavy Rain (like Indigo Prophecy before it) is an interactive movie - not a proper game. I think it looks cool and would definitely check it out if I owned a PS3, but I would rather all games not become interactive films. BioWare does a good job of making games with great gameplay and strong stories to guide it.

Except the problem with that example is that I spent nearly 100 hours in Dragon Age with my first play through!  :D

Lulz yeah I should have clarified that my DA:O play through was longer than 8hrs, then stated that Heavy Rain may be 8hrs but the replay value is high do to the combination of choices and nature of different outcomes..... lulz

Doesn't Heavy Rain have, like, 20+ endings?

8 times 20 is 160.

That's quite a bit of gameplay value.

It has an 88 on Metacritic. Since I'm buying an FFXIII Special Edition 360, anything below a 95 is a no-go at the moment, so I'll have to give this a pass.

Hey chained can we get an honest review of FFXIII when you get into the game and let us know if it is a sound game please?

Sure can. Not the best at reviewing, but I will give it a shot.

Truth be told, I just really, really want that 250gb hard-drive, and this is one of the few ways to get it.

I'm at a bit of a loss as to what to think about Heavy Rain. I'm not really sure what to think when the review says things like "You can't ever actually fail in Heavy Rain. There is no Game Over screen, and nothing will force you to have to replay anything" and "Heavy Rain’s an interactive movie, and it’s an enthralling experience."

I'm fairly certain that it is an entertaining experience and probably quite enjoyable, but I have some issues when thinking about it being called a game. If they simply called it an interactive movie (or a digital choose your own adventure), I'd have no problem at all, but when it's impossible to lose and all the gameplay consists of QTEs, I think it lacks some of the basic elements that make up a game (like coherent rules and the possibility of failure.)

That said, I did love me some Dragon's Lair back in the day (though you could lose in Dragon's Lair) so if I had a PS3 I'd probably buy it once it was down to $20 or less (because $60 for an 8 hour game that apparently is essentially the same for the first 3/4ths regardless of what you do is far too expensive in my mind) but it doesn't strike me as a system seller.
