Does anyone wish that Jack was not a required teammate?

Most of the teammates are just fodder.

Usefull team-members:

Mordin - Scientific genius

Miranda - 2nd in command, high up in the cerberus chain

Tali - a trustworthy friend

Garrus - Same as Tali

Grunt: He'll die/fight/kill for you. You are his Battlemaster. I also have a feeling Grunt's rise will be in ME3. I'm guessing Wrex will die (to save Shepard) and Grunt will take Wrex' place as the Krogan leader.

Legion; It never hurts to have the backup of a few hundred million Geth. He admires you and through him the Geth admire you.

Worthless:

Jack - psyco nutjob

Jacob - a red shirt extra

Zaeed - No place for a merc

Morith - same as jack

Thane - another red shirt.

Indifferent:

Samara - If you're a Paragon Shepard she'll be one of you most loyal team-members. If you are Renegade - She'll kill you.

Tali, Garrus, and Grunt have nothing to do with the story. So what if your Grunts "battlemaster" or you like Tali and Garrus. They have nothing to do with the story. Like I said in my last post. The only teammates that affect the story are Miranda and Mordin. Everyone else is just an extra gun.

Beyond the prologue, what the heck does Miranda do besides satisfy the minimum required screentime of cleavage?

you do not understand just how powerful a Biotic she is canon wise......she is a freak of nature.....

that's like saying you would not hire wade wilson just because he is unstable

we know he is unstable but he is still the best merc out there

She's there so people can make posts on how they hate her or love her. Pretty much like the rest of the crew actually. Though only a few crew members have a large role. Tali, Legion, Mordin...uuhh yea that's it.

rofl, seconded.

I think Jack's a tiny bit more stable than Wade, though. :P

Even there, Samara serves that requirement better. Image IPB

I'm thinking this about Jacob. Jack is actually useful after upgrading biotics. especially in the higher difficulties. Jacob I do not care for. Doesn't do anything spectacular. His loyalty mission is about the only thing i enjoyed from Jacob.

Yes! I'd leave her in prison if it was up to me.......

Tali and Garrus as continuation from ME1. I'll agree with what you said about Grunt :)

It would have been interesting if we had to choose between Samara/Jack, or Tali/Legion, or stuff like that, but then each playthrough effectively lacks one entire character's worth of gameplay, which is annoying, because you'd have to do like 5 playthroughs to see all of the immense investment put into each character, which also means 5x the planet scanning and stuff.

A tattooed psycho whos is a ripoff of Asajj Ventress from SW: Clone Wars and the chick from chronicles of riddick? Yeah what's not to hate?...I disliked her from the first showing of the teaser-trailer and used her as little as possible...If my military values didn't hold me back I'd be making sure she was the only one who died in the suicide mission.

Are you trolling or is this a legitimate question?  Her biotics are awesome.  Whether you romance her or not she has a skill set that is extremely benificial especially dealling with certain mobs like husks.  She hates Cerberus,,,what's wrong with that?  My sole survivor Shep hates them as well.  She is also no more or no less trustworthy than any of the other members, especially Zaeed,  who is willing to kill a bunch of innocent refinery workers to get to his rival Vito Santiago.  You don't have to romance her, or anyone for that matter, but not to use her makes absolutely no sense.

Completely.  I would just leave her in Purgatory.  It is tragic what happened to her, but as a player I just don't want her around.

I don't like Zaeed, Legion or Jack.  I cannot get Zaeed, I deliberately leave Legion behind the medical bay and I only do one mission with Jack...her loyalty mission.  That's it.

No, I am not trolling. I just dislike the fact the character is forced upon me and especially considering that Bioware was going to make her optional before. Personally, I really don't need her. She works well for you great, go obtain her. During the suicide mission, she had basically no important roles for her fulfill for me (everybody survived by the way including her and she wasn't loyal). In combat, she was not that crucial to me in any way (I play as a vanguard). Therefore, obtaining her is really unnecessary in my eyes. Once again, that is the case for me.

Jack's backstory indirectly ties in with the Mass Effect novels, and gives you more reason to distrust Cerberus. This early in the game where you don't know who the enemy is or how powerful they are, you'd still want lots of firepower on hand. Jack's got plenty of it, and so what if she isn't big on light conversation, or comes off as a borderline "psychopath"? [Morinth fits that to a damn T.]

And let's face it. The Illusive Man [sorta] did Jack a favour by letting her out of prison. Like with Shepard he's putting Jack, his previous investment, to good use. It doesn't matter how her personality is, she did her job. The fact that Jack is about as powerful as Samara in raw biotic ability - based on the final mission - says quite a fair lot.

On top of that even without you saying so she was able to put aside her differences with Miranda and focus on the task at hand.

As some of us have already know she's great for crowd control. So no, I don't wish she wasn't a required teammate.

That's fine.  It seems to fit your play style and I can respect that.  I didn't get that impression from your original post.  It seemed like a personal dislike that was not based upon those reasons.  I stand corrected.

Jack, Miranda and my FemShep adept are an awesome team, with Jack's Warp Ammo and Shockwave, Miranda's Warp and squad damage and health bonuses. We're like Charlie's Angels, except we're TIM's Angels.

Plus, Jack would be a lot of fun to hang out with. More fun than most of your squadmates.

i would accept bioware's forced recruiting if we could keep her in a purgatory-like cage the whole game. forcing us to put an unstable super-biotic who hates cerberus right under the delicate engineering of one of their ships for no reason other than to progess the story.....all i know is, if some reporter in ME3 asks why i took all these crazy mudering people with me on my yet to be explained mission, i will give up on bioware forever if one of the dialogue options isnt "because the game made me":pinched:
