I have beat the game with the following:

Infiltrator (28?)
Vanguard (30)
Sentinel (30)

and was planning on doing an Insanity run starting with Infiltrator. Am I better off importing the Infiltrator (so I can have all my skills but no upgrades) or is it better to just start a new one? I actually started one today, but only did the first mission so I can just start over. Also, what should I use as my bonus skill, I am currently using Geth Shield Boost but I think Cloak overrides it.

Do a new game. With an imported game the enemies keep their upgrades but you don't. It's far more challenging and less rewarding than it has to be.

I would take AP Ammo. Or Warp Ammo. Either way, the ammo bonuses are optimal for Infiltrators because you don't have to waste cooldowns that would be better spent on cloak or incinerate.

Or play without using bonus abilities?

I started with Reave but switched to Warp Ammo. I don't think AP Ammo is necessary due to already having Incinerate and SRs being strong against armor anyway. AP Ammo is 20% stronger against armor and health than warp, but Warp covers the Infiltrator's major weakness: barriers.

GSB and Cloak stack, but the graphic effects do not for technical reasons.

I was wondering when someone would do a cqc run lol.

I'll probably go Warp ammo and I'll just keep playing as the new Infiltrator I made.

I am planning on maxing out Cloak first then the passive skill (evolve in to Assassin). If I choose to go Warp Ammo, should I get Incinerate before maxing out the passive? Thanks

Warp is invaluable in the game. It works against armor, barriers, and heavy warp takes out a good bit of health. The nice thing about importing your character is access to the bonus ablities. I'm running through an insanity playthrough as a vanguard, and I'm getting destroyed without Miranda and her warp. I definitely suggest using warp ammo for those nasty barriers.

Why would you need Warp Ammo/Warp on a Vanguard? Shotties are naturally good at taking down barriers. If anything, I'd grab AP Ammo and squad mates who can distract the enemy (i.e. Tali's drone) so they all don't fire on you when you charge someone.

It's a matter of personal preferences. I have an Sentinel as well, and I played him almost like I did my Vanguard, with very little reliance on ammo boost of any sort, especially when you can readily unlock a squad ammo skill on a few of your squad members. On Insanity, you'll quickly run out of ammo anyway, and the armor pieces that add ammo capacity are a bit of a waste on anything but the Soldier class. I chose my squad strictly for crowd control and biotic powers on nearly every mission - with the exception of places where Techs are invaluable, like the Heretic Station, Tali's quest, etc.

[Addendum] I may be one of a few, but on a few missions (Derelict Reaper readily comes to mind), I had a hell of a time on Insanity with Sentinel compared to Vanguard. Choose the skill you see yourself using the most, but remember to round out the selection with your choice of squad members. It's in cases like this that I would readily agree with AP Ammo, simply because once barriers are down (or where there are none to begin with), you still have a ton of armor to get through.

At any rate, again, stick with your own preferences and remember to bring team members with cc skills (eg. Pull, Shockwave) to places where you already know there are several mobs to deal with. Mowing them down isn't as simple once you've passed Hardcore.

I have to agree with you i didn't put many points into my ammo powers since i know that i would have those that i would use to do squad ammo... But i did put full points into AI hacking because on lvls with mech i like to mess with themand have them do the job for me...Also I chose Geth Sheild for IGS becuase i plan on using Jack on the majority of the game when i go get her and maxing out her warp ammo and make it SWA

So I just did Mordin's recruitment mission and it was really difficult. I was using GSB at the time but switched to Warp Ammo after I recruited him but overall that mission was pretty hard. The freaking Vorcha regenerated too fast and when I ran out of sniper ammo I just basically had to wait out the fight and hope my teammates finished them off.

Does the game get easier as I progress or is this what I should expect throughout the game? Mainly the issues I was having involved the enemy regeneration and running out of ammo.

I know, I know, another shameless plug...  but this seems to work great vs. Vorcha and Krogan.

Use your incinerate ability to block Vorcha health regeneration on insanity. Sniper ammo is usually scarce, so learn to rely on your pistol and SMG in a pinch.

Yeah all I put my points into was cloak so I didn't have incinerate. I guess I'll put a point into that instead of saving up points to max cloak.

It does get a bit easier, but ammo seems to always be an issue for me.  To that end I took reave for an ability to break down barriers & kill without ammo.

Is anyone else having severe issues with ammo for the sniper rifle?

Early on it's actually a lot easier if you just max Incinerate first, then put a point or two in Operative.  Bring Miranda (max Warp then work on her passive) and Zaeed along (his disruptor ammo and grenade) and just focus fire explode pretty much anything on Omega outside of elites and bosses.  Using your sniper more for the zoom in aim for your powers is actually more useful than even using the gun for the most part as well.

The fan area on Mordin's recruitment mission was comedy, especially when there's a pyro anywhere.  When the first door opened, I focused a Pyro with the group, blew it up and it blew up everything around it before they even got outside the door.  For the next room you can just cloak your way to the cut scene and not even have to worry about killing anything.

You've got to go out there and get it.  I am always trying to advance, so I rarely run out of ammo on any gun on any class.  If you turtle up exclusively with the sniper rifle, you'll run out fast.  Get out there and take some ground.

I never ran out of sniper ammo on my insanity run. Just don't miss (seriously, even the loading screen tip tells you this!).

Incinerate is the infiltrator's best friend until you've acquired the widow.

Yeah the fan part for me was a real pain. I mean sniping decimates anything... but eventually I run out and it gets crappy from there. I basically had to lure the Krogan out by himself and go cloak, run, shoot and repeat. I feel like once I start maxing things out that I will start crushing things but right now it's real annoying

Yeah I think I am a bit too defensive. I basically always get headshots but there are just tons of enemies. I've started to move advance in order to get ammo, but once I spend a long time on a section I really don't feel like getting out there and dieing. I think I'm just getting used to it (first run on Insanity) and might be too defensive.

What's the actual trigger for Horizon, simply picking up Jack, Garrus, Mordin and Grunt?  And how are you only level 8, are you starting a new non imported character?  I keep hitting it at level 11 - 12 I think.

Brand new, non-import character.  When starting a class I haven't played before, I want to do it from scratch so I can learn for myself what works and what doesn't.  Also why I don't take Bonus Powers.  Want to give the normal powers a go and try and figure out how to best utilize the class' skills first.

Edit:  For me, the trigger has always been getting all four recruits.

Advancing is important with all classes. If you advance fast enough, you will get fewer spawns on many missions.

I never had much of an issue with my Infiltrator Insanity run. I had Reave which worked really well against biological opponents (it basically stuns them for 4 seconds and heals you, letting me pop my head out more). I didn't bother with Incinerate until late game. I made sure that Grunt got Squad Incendiary Ammo ASAP, and used him when encountering enemies with regen.

I can understand your point about what works and what doesn't, but I really wouldn't pass up at least Warp or AP ammo for an Infiltrator.  That doesn't apply to you of course since you enjoy Cryo so much, but maybe later if you're switching it to group you might use Warp/AP on yourself.

While I'm not sold on Cryo myself yet, your videos are really entertaining and you make awesome use out of the cloak for actually moving around, not just using it for headshots.  I do that too, but not to such a degree and mostly just use it for line of sight issues killing something big or stealthing to the end of a mission when triggers allow it.
