Seriously though, Bioware definitely needs to chill with the fan service in ME3. They already pushed it with ME2. Gameplay fan service is one thing, but plot and character fan service is another. Plot integrity is a must. It's not supposed to ****d out to the whims of the fan base.

For the most part, initially most squadmembers are seen as if you cannot trust them. They were written with such edge that while they are with you, they still have that sense of danger to them in a way that they could not be trusted. However, Garrus and Tali are the only two that do not have that quality about them. Most people wouldn't find that bad but for me it is because it destroyed what ME2 was supposed to be about.

This is why the notion to bring Garrus/Tali back just so that they can be romanced was just silly and very weak by Bioware.

Trust is exactly why they're here. It wasn't Bioware who brought them back - it was TIM. He did it for the sole purpose of making Shepard comfortable. He goes to great lengths to ensure that Shepard stays with him and is committed to the mission.

But I agree with you that the two of them ruined the mood. :P I was a "traitor, working for the enemy" to save the humankind while my former allies turned away from me in horror and disgust. I didn't WANT any comfort. Better be betrayed by everyone and work with questionable people, who are just as feared and rejected as you are: together we can save the galaxy. And all those highly moral people who didn't want to get tainted by breathing the same air with me and Cerberus - well, they'll just have to watch from the sidelines when the fight for all life in the galaxy starts. :D

I particularly enjoyed Grunt and Legion - so risky and questionable that they gave even TIM a pause. And it felt great that he still allowed me to decide what to do with them.

+10,000,000

THANK YOU!

Finally someone who isn't a Bioware=God and what ever they do is pure golden and flawless believer.

As much as I liked Ashley Williams in ME1, I wanted Bioware TO TELL THEIR STORY that they and not a story based around popularity.

Popular belief among some people is that Bioware once again went to the "Fan Service" box and decided to make Cerberus a bad guy in ME3 simply because people hated them in ME2.
-------------------------------------------------------------------
Tali and Garrus are cool characters, but judging by how Bioware talks about them, sometimes I wonder what their TRUE and INITIAL plans for these charaters were. They seem like they HAVE NO plan for these characters and they are just waiting for what the fans have to say before they make the next move. One example of this would be the fact that Bioware still doesn't know anything about the final face design for Tali/Quarians.

This is why Star Wars: The Old Republic is going to be fresh air for me because I can experience a Bioware RPG with party members that weren't concieved by fan desires but pure Bioware creativity and imagination. Yes, there is HK-47 but he is just a small cameo, not a squadmate that you can all of a sudden romance.....

Another example of obvious fanservice that I hate is that Ashley has her hair down in ME3. While I find it attractive, it contradicts who she was designed to be. Most of the people here weren't here at the old ME forums during late 2006/early 2007 but I remember Chris P saying something that they wanted Ashley to be attractive in a sense that she is that typical female co-worker that looks good, but good in a professional way, not a sleezy "girl at the club" attractive.

Ashley wears no makeup and has her hair in a bun in ME1/ME2. But she has her hair down in ME3 and from the photo, looks like she has some makeup and some minor eye shadow details.Again, Bioware trying to please those male gamers who believes that the only way a female can be attractive is if she has long flowy hair and full makeup....:?

I hear that they are changing Jack because supposendly she has "matured" but yet ME3 only takes place a few weeks/months after ME2....how much could she have changed?

Might as well give Tali a mini skirt and 5"heels in ME3....

I want Bioware to tell their story, not a story based around what forum members suggest. That is fine with combat and gameplay mechanics, but not plot points.

Isnt it a good sign that they didn't buckle and made a Virmire Survivor DLC? :P

In a way, as much as I wanted a VS DLC, I am sort of happy that there wasn't one. That way when I reunite with Ashley in ME3, it would mean more because I haven't fought with her since ME1's battle against Saren and now we're back together.

Tali is the worst romance option ever, if you so much as breathe on her, /life. And she's like an annoying whiny little neighbor girl I would kick sand in the face of.

Yep, and they went overboard in some aspects. Tali's a virgin? GTFOH! Blatant pandering. I hope there's another alien virgin in ME3 so Shepard can go three for three! Maybe we could get an achievement for it. Imagine it, before the epic final battle with the Reapers you lay with another sweet young alien thang and plok! "Buster Hymen 100 points" appears on screen. Glorious!

I agree with you, however the Tali virgin this is actually quite justified considering Tali's age from ME1 and lore reasons involving the Quarian immune system.

That's fair enough, but when you add the fact that most of the romance consisted of her raving how awesome and manly Shep is and how she want to jump his bones....yeah really wasn't a fan of Tali's romance. :P

Quarian teenagers don't have sex?  Plus it would nowhere be as dangerous to get it on with her own kind than with a human.  Not to mention with her status she'd have access to other Quarian studs with status.  Nobody wants to get with the daughter of an admiral?

Heh, i'll grant you that. :P

Still though, different tastes for different LI's. I just hope they mature Tali more in the next game.

First of all I already told you Quarians don't have actual, physical sex casually for lore reasons. Everything in lore points to the use of nerve stim programs for "casual" sexual release. Its just too dangerous to risk it otherwise.

Second of all the very fact she is the daughter of an admiral would actually mean less chance of such a relationship. Her father seems very protective of her. She is also seen as someone who has to set an example for her people.  (Also she just doesn't seem that promiscuous, aside from suddenly jumping down sheps pants of course)

Aside from all this arguing, why is it a bad thing Tali is a virgin again?

Because, according to the original complainant, "virgin" axiomatically equals "blatant pandering". Or so I can only assume, since they didn't bother to do anything but assert that it was so.
