I like hearing Yvonne Stahovski's natural voice.
Thane was awesome, Legion was awesome,Garrus. Hale was awesome.....there are actually so many great VAs in the game.
I also dig the EDI effect on Helfer's voice.

Illusive man, Mordin (especially his song), Grunt (every time he laughs), Tali (for that line where she finds out Shepard likes her), and Zaeed fro every one of his lines.

MY least favorites were Jacob and Samara, not enough emotion with the exceptions of their loyalty missions.

I think this game has the best voice acting I've ever heard. They were all marvellous... apart from maybe Tali but that's because I find her character petty and whiney rather than having a bad VO... oh yeah and Ken Donnelly or whatever he was called... wtf is up with that? If you're gonna have a Scottish character, you need someone who can accurately portray a Scottish accent. Unless they were giving a nod to Star Trek, in which Scotty's accent is diabolical, in that case fair enough.

It's a Scottish accent, and a real one.  There are many different dialects in Scotland, this one just was Glaswegan.

In no way was that Glaswegian, I was in Glasgow last summer so I know how they talk. It sounds closer to an Edinburgh dialect than Glaswegian. It just sounded like an Englishman or American putting on an accent.

Absolutely - I'm Glaswegian myself and I have a very hard time believing Ken Donnelly is really from here. A *very* hard time, lol. It's a shame that they have a genuine English actor for Zaeed, a genuine Australian one for Miranda but then use someone atrocious for a stereotypical Scottish accent, lol. Pet hate as a Scot :P

I obviously agree with all the praise heaped on Mordin and Tali, but I was equally impressed by some of the more minor characters. First off, props to whoever mentioned the Gunnery Sergeant on the Citadel, I was literally laughing the whole friggin time. Secondly, I was impressed by EDI. Granted she isn't inundated with lines but Tricia Helfer gives the perfect amount of emotional inflection on the voice that makes her more than a program but not a stereotypical Halo-style AI. Lastly, I have to give love to Captain Bailey (Michael Hogan), his voice was perfect, especially during Thane's loyalty mission

Tali'zorah and The Illusive Man really stood apart for me, even with such great voice over work all around. I could hear the smoke and lies in Sheens voice, and while I can't recall the actor who voiced Tali they did an incredible job, her loyalty mission ended up making her my favorite character by far. Mordin and Garrus were both excellent as well.

It sounds more Irish than Scottish to me.  He does say "I feel a wee bit threatened" which it something an Irishman would tend to say rather than a Scot.  Also, i've noticed Scots tend to be very whiney and less crass than Irishmen.  What I mean by whiney are those big Ooooos they suck up and let out.  You know what I'm talking about.  I don't know what you all call it but usually an indication of an oncoming rant.

They were all really good. Good voice actors are an essential point to bringing the characters to life, and in Mass Effect 2 they were all alive. If any of my crew had bad voice acting, I'd probably purposely let them die on the suicide mission.

No love for Seth?

Man Joker is way too fun. Stand behind him, looking at the shutter control and just wait. His lines are darng funny.... he says one liners every 10 seconds or so about 3 times after every mission. I wonder how many lines he has. Great job there.

Garrus impressed me a lot this time around, especially over the last game in which he was pretty flat. Other than that, I will always love Keith David's voice. Councilman Anderson needs a bigger role.

All did their jobs well, and Liz Sroka and Seth Green made me google desperately for their other productions (which Liz had suprisingly little considering her incredible voice). Seth made Joker sound like a funny character even when there was no joke. Liz on the other hand can make a character sound shy, determined, innocent and seductive all at the same time. Could listen to that all day.

It's so hard to choose one... All of them were excelent, the VA team improved a lot since ME1.

Joker, Tali, TIM, Mordin, Miranda, Jacob were all awesome.

I think Liz Stroka(tali) Did the best job in the game especially during Tali's Loyalty quest.

I agree, she did an amazing job. Liz Sroka was able to show how she would be feeling with just her voice. It was as near perfect as it could be. I also liked Garrus, his voice actor (can't think of the name right now) did an amazing job. But my all time favorite out of the series would have to be Keith David as Cpt. Anderson. Thats my two cents. Image IPB

Tali was amazing, S'roka was phenomenal... whether aiming to be funny, dramatic or shy. A faceless voice to carry all emotions? Seriously, most characters have an emulated face which reacts accordingly, she did not.

Martin Sheen made TIM's role his own. Seriously Kudos to him.

Garrus was as top notch as in ME1, some of my favorite conversations revolve around him.

Legion had a synthesised voice.. which possibly makes him illegible to this but he makes Legion sound really cool, I'd say he's the main reason people like the Geth.

Miranda did a great job, not sure if it's Stahovski's first VO job, but she worked with many pro VO actors and did a really good job.

I think that Fem and Male Shep's VO's get reduced appreciation as they are meant to be less emotionally resonating as their colleagues... I believe that they are intending to give the Player leeway when it comes to emotional engagement and if their voice sounds a way that counters the player's intention, it could hurt the game... hence they always sound... "less intense" - If I may say so.

To be honest, I could go on forever, talking about all of them... but my work day is over and I want to go home ;)

All in all, ME2 is like ME1, top VO acting, emotionally compelling and other adjectives whom could serve to only emphasise the awesomeness of it all.

I really liked how they did Legion's voice. And, as much as I disliked him as a person, there's no denying the sheer talent of The Illusive Man. Tali and Miranda were both good as well.

Mark Meer and Jennifer Hale both had specific lines I thought they delivered fantastically. Hale seems much better with genuinely heart felt moments, while Meer is much more convincing when he's being a sarcastic smart ass.

Seth Green as Joker was awesomely funny. He had some of the best lines in the game and the acting as always was great from Seth.

MaleShep/Mark Meer also improved a HUGE deal IMHO, not that it was terrible to begin with, but it really came along in the second one I thought. Renegade felt more badass, Paragon felt more nice.

I really don't like Mark Meer's acting ability, but he DID sell me when he told Tali to 'hurry.  Captain's orders.'  It sounded genuine and sincere.  Precisely how it should have been if we are to believe that he and Tali are in love.  I would also agree that he sounded more cordial when he was being Paragon.  I do not do renegade, so I cannot tell you otherwise.

His renegade is the better than Jennifer Hale's I think. He sounds like such a jerk but it's funny as well.   That video shows  alot of the good renegade lines if you don't want to play that way.

Jennifer Hale does a better paragon in my opinion.

after watching scenes from ME1, it's clear that there's a huge leap in the voice acting from the first and second game, in terms of garrus and tali.

garrus and tali ftw
