Am I the only one? Seriously, all I read is whining and complaining about an expansion the nobody has played. An expansion to an INCREDIBLE game. My thought process is as follows....
1- I loved Dragon Age, and KOTOR, and NWN, and Mass Effect, and Baldur's Gate. This must mean Bioware makes good games.
2- I loved the expansions and the sequels(even the non-bioware ones) So maybe Bioware knows what they are doing.
3- I have yet to be dissapointed with a Bioware game. Are they perfect? No, but very close.
4- The fact that Bioware is still around making games must mean that other people also enjoyed their games.
All this taken into account, how.........I repeat, HOW, can anyone think for a second that Bioware is going to drop the ball on this one? They do have a pretty darn good track record from what I've seen, and have yet to dissapoint.
To finish, Thank you Bioware. I am looking forward to Awakening, have loved every game of yours that I've played, and think you guys are awesome!!
It's not that I'm not excited, I'm cautioustly optimistic. Unlike yourself, I thought that KotOR, NWN and Mass Effect were mostly mediocre. They had their moments, but they were too formulaic and lacked the depth that Dragon Age had.
BioWare are hardly infallible, of course they can drop the ball. My hat's off to the developers and writers that put this game together, you guys have provided me with more than a hundred hours of entertainment (a little bit of frustration in the Deep Roads and on random encounters too, but we're cool), but things can fall apart. A lot of good franchises go downhill, some sooner than others. Why not this one?
This expansion pack might not be worth it - I think it probably will be, but I want to be sure I'm looking at this objectively so that I'm not spending money on something that I feel might be a cash grab. I'm not saying that the expansion pack will suck or anything (in fact, there are a few reasons to believe it could be very good) but there are still some legitimate concerns that haven't yet been answered by the developers.
However, that's been covered in a dozen threads already.
My only point is that we shouldn't fall into the mentality of "BioWare can do no wrong".
