Am I the only one? Seriously, all I read is whining and complaining about an expansion the nobody has played. An expansion to an INCREDIBLE game. My thought process is as follows....
1- I loved Dragon Age, and KOTOR, and NWN, and Mass Effect, and Baldur's Gate. This must mean Bioware makes good games.
2- I loved the expansions and the sequels(even the non-bioware ones) So maybe Bioware knows what they are doing.
3- I have yet to be dissapointed with a Bioware game. Are they perfect? No, but very close.
4- The fact that Bioware is still around making games must mean that other people also enjoyed their games.
All this taken into account, how.........I repeat, HOW, can anyone think for a second that Bioware is going to drop the ball on this one? They do have a pretty darn good track record from what I've seen, and have yet to dissapoint.
To finish, Thank you Bioware. I am looking forward to Awakening, have loved every game of yours that I've played, and think you guys are awesome!!
You are seriously asking people to take into account that:
1 you love DAO, KOTOR, NWN, BG and ME
2 you loved the sequels
3 you have yet to be dissapointed?
I know I am just beeing mean, but I can't pass up that opportunity :innocent:
And they did drop the ball with the DLC.
The good track record is why people are giving them the benefit of the doubt.
Though you aren't actually looking for an answer, are you? If you wanted that, you'd go back to read the threads were people explain how they come to believe that Awakening may not be all that awesome.
And personaly? I hated ME, couldn't bring myself to play more than a couple of hours. BG I played through once, had a lot of fun with the gameplay, but found the story so boring that I neither played it a second time nor managed to play BG2 longer than 10 minutes. Still I have very fond memories of playing BG.
I enjoyed the gameplay of NWN, but found the game otherwise lacking in something to draw me in.
I loved KOTOR and finished it more than once.

Is there anything I personally can do about it? No..other than quitting playing altogether ..which might happen..we'll see. Awakening is on order, and I'm still willing to give benefit of the doubt til I experience that. If still unhappy with the way things play out..particularly plot holes...well then I'll be on my merry way.

Because people are ****y by default?Spitz6860 wrote...
why would people complain if they are not going to buy the game? the more they complain means the more they care.
In any case, I'm immensely looking forward to it and I have no complaints about lack of romances (they don't make a game) or DLCs (never bought any so I really have no grounds there).

And even if you won't like it, you will like it anyway, because "you can't just dislike something made by Bioware?"
As I said in other threads, I'm going to play this game even if all the news I read from FAQ disappointed me very much. Maybe I will like it or I will not like it... But I can aldready say this will not be the type of game I want and I usually expect from BW...

The new character reveals look completely lacking in comparison to the ones we're losing. Such a waste.

The only reason I'm picking it up is because I got a discount code from EA screwing up one of my orders so I'm getting is considerably cheaper.

See, I play on the 360, and for that price (£25) it's going to be a bargain. A lot of full retail games (£40) on the 360 can't even boast 10 hours gameplay.darkshadow136 wrote...
That being said awakenings looks promising but with a $40.00 price tag with an expansion I think they may loose peoples interest. $40 is almost the price for a full game, and they want that for an expansion. Whoever is doing their pricing needs their head examined.

See that is the difference I play on PC and for $40 I can buy a full game or close to a full game for that price. Console game have always been overpriced in my opinion but then again the price on the games is where the console manufacturers make their money.

Fair comment mate. After a little investigation it appears in the UK, you can get Awakening on PC for £15 ($23.46 USD) which is a pittance, in my book. Exampledarkshadow136 wrote...

And if we can make dwarven Grey Orlesians, I will be super duper jazzed because I get to play yet another amazon and this character doesn't have to deal with the previous dark ritual BS with Morrigan. Can just leapfrog over all that unpleasantness. =p

On the PC in the UK you can get it for £16 on Amazon. Which is fairly standard for an expansion. I have no idea why it seems to be so much more in the US. I mean standard price here is £19.99 for the PC version and the exchange rate is far from 2 dollars to the pound.
Yeah that is my point. I have no problem spending $20-$26 for a PC expansion but $40 is just a ripoff in my eyes anyway. After my discount from EA after they screwed up one of my orders I'm getting Awakenings for $26.86 and that I feel is the top end of what I would be willing to pay for an expansion. I just think Bioware should think this through on the pricing of this expansion. I know some of my PC gaming friends won't pick this up just because of the price of it. Bioware may loose some customers becuase of the overpricing of this installment.

People are always quick to judge despite lacking sufficient information. Whining and complaining is just part of human nature, I guess. But anyways, no matter what people out there are babbling about, I'm still looking forward to this expansion. The price tag? May be steep for some but those who enjoy an awesome gaming experience wouldn't mind cashing out on DAO:A as long as their budget allows it.
Well for one it is not Judging, or whining. It is called contructive critism considering previous price points for PC expansions which always averaged between $19.99-$24.99. If Bioware is willing to gamble on how many players they are going to alienate with their high pricing then I say go for it. As for the lacking sufficient info, What lacking info is there it is around a 15 hour expansion that they are pricing close to waht a full PC game goes for.
I myself ordered it with the discount I got. But I just wanted to let Bioware know that a lot of US PC players will most likey not pick it up because of the high price for what it is. They will most like wait for a price drop and pick it up later or not pick it up at all.

(W)hy would people complain if they are not going to buy the game? (T)he more they complain means the more they care.
They/we complain because they/we care about DA:O and its characters, and their/our characters and their/our character's past/history/choices and they/we want 'Awakening' to be something it looks like it won't be. People say they won't buy it as a form of protest... if 'Awakening' doesn't sell well Bioware will start bringing past companions, and in Dragon Age's case, past choices into future expansions and direct sequels - as the majority of people that are heavily invested in their games want this.
'Awakening' will probably sell well though, because the majority of Dragon Age's fans don't come here... or even research things before they buy them. I was complaining pretty loudly, but someone refered me to the quote that claims the romances still exist, they arn't on a 'break', they are just away. And the fact that Bioware claims that you can't romance anyone in 'Awakening' makes me think that romances at least, won't be sidelined in II. The above information suggests that II will be a direct sequel, or there will be an expansion that wraps the romances up if DAII is supposed to be another time with another hero. However, this still doesn't address why many major choices arn't going to transfer into the expansion. So I am reserving my judgment for after it has come out and other people have bought it and can tell us what is going down.
In closing, while complaining may be annoying... and in some cases downright ignorant or juvenile without it, things definently won't change. Just because someone refuses to buy a game based on current knowledge doesn't mean they don't care about how the game turns out.
