You can't heal them, you can use your medi-gel when they die.

Their Shield & Health regens like you, there is a upgrade that let medi-gel heal also.
Unless the player put the team in a bad/wrong cover they don't die that easily.

I would still like to see my squad member's shield and health. I play it as a team, not as Shepard and company.

Are you kidding me, that makes it so much easier and quicker to explore areas for any good stuff.  In ME1 you had to run around every corner of every room to make sure you got every item, now you can do a quick scan and save tons of time.  I love this feature.

Yeah, why spending so much time looking for awesomes items when I can have the game spoon feed them at me....
I hope ME3 has all best items right from the start so I don't have to waste time in looking for them and I can gun down more mindless bots

The very first mission my squad was dead and I didn't know it till I looked around and saw them on the ground. So no the UI sucks. I have no clue how much health I had as the squad option was greyed out so I couldn't see.
