For those of you who have played Badur's Gate 2, if I were to give you names like Carsomyr, Crom Faeyr, and (laugh) Lilarcor, you know what im talking about already. One of the things I enjoyed most in that game was collecting all the awesome weapons and armour from all the strange nooks and crannies the game creators thought up. In fact the part that disappointed me the most in NWN was that the special weapons were all copies of better weapons or were made by the PC by finding a few simple ingriedients. Mass Effect had no special weapons at all unless you count the ones that you could buy after becoming a spectre, and those wern't exactly hard to get.
If I were to have one wish, it would be to see some truly epic weapons in DA:O, in hard to reach places. I'd love to be able to take the scales from a dragon I've killed and make some armour. Or find a cursed sword after defeating some ancient evil creature.
I was just curious to see if anyone else felt the same way on this point?

I know there's no sentient weapons in the game, but I'm sure there will be some great weapons and armor out there. Specifically dragonbone weapons.

Modders are already cookin up some cool-sounding stuff! I've heard tell of one such individual that is hoping to make a wicked sweet double bladed 2H axe with evil eye pictures on it! I think we're gonna get some sweet stuff soon enough!

NWN2 severely disappointed me with regards to loot. You could slay an entire cavern full of powerful illithid, and get a few crappy odds and ends. Or you could toss together a few materials and craft a very powerful but generic weapon with little effort.
I want my rewards to match the investment and effort I put in, the risks I take. If tackle an exceptionally difficult optional boss and come out alive I want to see something shiny, unique and loaded with lore. No generic +2 battleaxes.

I hope they have uba weapons for specific builds, like for example they could input the old Excalibur in some old cave somewhere where only a person practically born for strength could remove it.

I agree with the original poster. One of the things that made Baldur's Gate so memorable was the attachment to the artifacts you could come across. You weren't just a solo Fighter/Mage/Thief in Baldur's Gate 2; you were a F/M/T with Aslyferund Elven Chain, dual wielding Celestial Fury and Malakar. Gives your PC far more of an epic feel.

The golden pantaloons are nice I agree, but you need the silver pantaloons and bronze pantalettes to complete the set
.
That was one of my favourites as well

seriously, if anybody is keeping in touch with the modders forum, and is aware of the toolset, then you should know that there is a whole dimension of unexplored possibilities. at this point your mind is your limit. when the toolset comes out, that is the first thing im gonna start playing with.
Oh, and btw, im so gonna make Cloud's sword

I'm hoping for the same as well.
I love a little flare added to the character through a named weapon. I just hope that if they are in, there's one for everybody.

I agree with most posts here..........finding a unique item be it weapon or armor or ring or clothing just makes your character more unique.... if we are all running around with the same swords and staff adn armor it quickly will get boring but judging from the Commanders armor and the blood dragon armor I expect there to be plenty of choices so that we can outfit our character as uniquely as we play them.

A unique weapon doesn't need to be über; it just has to have character. A distinctive look helps, of course, but a good name and an unusual mix of bonuses* is what really makes it stand out.
*perhaps, for added interest, penalties as well as bonuses

I'm all for optional secret bosses that are really hard or origin/stat specific hidden spots where one with enough str could pull out the sword from the stone or a mage could stop the flow of a river and cross to battle for a sweet lost staff or a rogue could sneak through a deadly cavern covered in traps to fight some skeleton for his pirate dagger of sweetness.

It's confirmed that there are certain unique armor sets, so I'd be very surprised if there wasn't any legendary weapons a la Carsomyr.
But no sentient weapons are a bummer indeed.

Well you could consider Shale to be a sentient weapon i guess.
But i agree that we need unique gear to get attached to, ideally with a good bit of lore atttached to the weapons/armor. The bonus items we've heard of seem to hint there will be that kind of stuff in game though, and the lore description for the Blood Dragon Armor is nice too.
