Hence, why I think Mark Meer does a better renegade Shepard than Jennifer Hale. He can't really do the more righteous stuff well like Jennifer Hale can. Thankfully, Paragon does have some jerk moments to it in ME2 so it's not completely bland/boring now as male shepard.Jlop985 wrote...

But yes, male shep is just as creepy or creepier than Fem shep and Jacob. Try hooking up with Samara, I went with the "Who's talking about a relationship?" response and felt taht I needed a shower afterwards, all he needed was a liesure suit and a gold medallion.
Did you mean Miranda? I chose the response because, well, "Love?" seems like an innocuous choice, and it's in the paragon (read: non-jerk) part of the dialogue wheel. It was especially awkward with my little sister in the room.
But you really shouldn't have had your little sister in the room for Mass Effect 2 in the first place. It's rated Mature for a reason.

Never spoke to him ever again after doing his loyalty quest. Going to kill him off on this playthrough and import that to ME3.

I was neutral towards Jacob at first. He was boring, but he wasn't a bad guy. Then I got to "I just want to... Talk a bit." Then I got to the rude comments he give new squad members. And then JESUS **** HE'S SO FREAKING SKINNY WHAT'S WRONG WITH HIS CHARACTER MODEL.

This is odd. Because if you watch his romance you can see he's built like a brick sh*thouse. Seriously more buff than MaleShep... from the waist up.
He appears to have the torso of the hulk and the waist of a thirteen year-old girl. Tali's needs to lend him some hip.

She's 16, she can handle it. It was just awkward.
But by now I've gotten used to the fact that ManShep doesn't emote much, and that he's Canadian. Actually, since Hale is Canadian as well, does that mean that Shepard is canonically Canadian? Smooth move, Bioware.

Yeah, I poked around witth some of the preliminary dialogue choices just to see, and it was a bit more carnal and less 'romantic' than I thought it should be. I never planned on persuing it because I always planned on keeping my Femshep loyal (never saved those choices, just reloaded), but I wanted to see.
It's a shame too because Jacob is a cool guy. I like him, but he...well, I just don't want to see a dude in a tight leotard.

dude! forget about whether it was "too carnal" or "too romantic" for a sec and recognize the "real" problem. there was no way to AVOID it! a lot of Femsheps were simply not interested........AT ALL.
as i've said many times before, the whole thing made my Femshep wanna
the armory's floor was covered in my Femshep's puke, even though she quickly learned to keep her head down, not look at jacob and run in and out as fast as she could.

I just stopped talking to him because of that. I love my femShep, and Jacob's an okay guy, but flirty voice constantly? No.
This.
I couldn't stand the flirty tone she took with Jacob. It didn't fit the persona I have for her in my head, so I just stopped talking to poor Jacob after a while. I guess he probably got rather lonely down there.

That made me cry a little.
Am I glad I do not play Female Shepards.
Like I said, the first time I played the game I actually talked to him until I got sick of it. Want to hear something funny.
At one point in the conversation he talks about how he and Miranda use to be an item, but he was not a good enough man for her. Some how though, he is good enough for Shepard, he has to be the worst romance option in video game history.
Your better off just not talking to Jacob at all as femShep, you will have a more enjoyable game. No forced flirting and he is such a bland character your not missing anything avoiding an attempt at friendship.
Agreed. I prefer Hale to Meer in most ways, but the Jacob convos are mostly cringe-inducing to the point where I just avoid the poor guy.
And yes, both Meer and Hale are Canadian and no, Shepard isn't canonically Canadian, but thw would be awesome.

*runs up to cabin*
*folds into fetal position*
*crys hysterically*
*throws up...again*
*shakes involuntarily*
"no, no, no, NOOOOOOO!!!!!!!"
*throws up...again*
*whimpers*
*crawls into bed slowly while crying helplessly*
*sobs self to sleep*
*throws up in sleep....again* (thankfully on side)
please bioware, stop doing this to my poor Femshep.

Well the girl's got to learn one day, it is not always about love. Better Shepard breaks it to her....Jlop985 wrote...

That would be cool. The Hero of the Galaxy, is a Canadian. Go Canada!
This said and done, I prefer Mark over Hale, at least when you play Renegade or someone that will Renegade a lot of the fluff atleast (my main Shepard and third Shepard), pure Paragon I tend to go with a female Shep. I think it is funny how Paragon is a little more "badass" in this game and I think I know why. Male Shep is just hilarious when he is being a bit of an ass or trouble maker.
Best one is when he socials the vent worker in Thane's mission "There is a Bomb... RUN!" "RUN it is gonna blow!" "Hahaha, I can't believe that worked." and "DRINK IT! NOW! Or I am going to blind you one eye at a time." Hale doesn't have as much love in her voice when she is being a dick.

Yet here is Jacob, a nice solider , Doing his job, and the PC has gone "deprived cougar let out of her cage on him. "
I really did not like that feeling, and as a result have to force myself to talk to him to advance anything.

Beautifully said, each Romance has a sort of theme. Tali is the sort of sweet "nerdy" love, Miranda is the "Bond Girl Love" especially if you Renegade charm her but even Paragon charming of her is a little... ummm Bondish. Jack is Punk love. Not sure about Garrus and Thane, but Jacob gets the "sleesy bar ****" love, where Shepard's in heat and he's your prey. Just felt.. awkward (except instead of cringing I am laughing my ass off hearing Hale talk like a bar tramp).MatronAdena wrote...
to be honest, the writing with the interactions with Jacob made me feel... Well it made me feel sort of like the writes themselves were " forcing" Shep onto Jacob. When you would think " npc romance option, they come onto the character."

Anyway, this is a Jacob thread but we should definitely stop talking about Jacob. No one even wants to talk to him.
