ME2 doesn't have the same feel as ME1 did and it's not the story or characters well maybe it is i'll get to that. But the hole Mass Effect universe doesn't feel the same or to put it in another way the game Mass Effect doesn't feel the same. It's weird but I miss the unknowing Mass Effect feel it gave me when I would be running around Feros or Noveria or aboard the old or IMO better Normandy.

I'm not complaing or anything and I have made posts about this that are way longer and in more detail but no one really ever replys when I bring this up.

ME2 just feels so much of a "product" if you know what I mean than an actual universe. The chacters and the missions and the vibe of the story that Mac Walters did an "alright" job on but Drew K's books and Mass Effect 1 was just completely in the name (Mass Effect) of the game.

Shepard doesn't quite feel so different than in ME1 and the Chacters have to much of a personalitly to them and just everything really even the Citadel doesn't feel the same anymore.

I'm kinda just throwing around things and left alot out but what are your thoughts on this? I'm sorry if alot of it seems like complaing and I didn't go into detail cause like I siad I've posted this alot and no one really replys to this "feeling" more than just the qurks and RPG elements and things about ME2 vs. ME1. I'm just talking about the "feeling" it gives you deep inside. And how Mass Effect felt like more of a Sci Fi novel instead or ME2 feeling like a movie. Which IMO seems a bit more lazy than an actualy narrative feel of a novel.

Thoughts? Tell me I'm crazy please.

Join the crowd. There are many of us who feel cheated by what Bioware did to this game. Unfortunately it appears the FPS crowd (I call them twitchers) convinced Bioware to change the core elements of the game in their favor. I have read review after review of this game from respected game magazines like GameInformer where the reviewer (who obviously prefers shooters) praises this game and denegrates the first one.  Those of us who like the first game better are in the minority I fear so I doubt there is little we can do to get Bioware to return to what ME was. The best we can do is respectfully let Bioware know how we feel and hopefully if they get enough negative feedback from us they will add some of the things we miss back into ME3, that is unless they are blinded by the $ they are making on ME2 right now.

RPG "fans" are so smug it makes me want to hate rpgs. I had never heard of a video game divide before i came on the mass effect 2 forums. Apparently liking kotor means you hate halo and cod or your a "twitcher". I have news for people, its ok to like things. I watch action movies and dramas, i play shooters, rpgs, sportsgames.

The RPG crowd, i call them losers seems to blame every problem on those dang shooter fans, ignoring mass effect 1 was a shooter. What if there is an inbetween?

Example: I like the combat of mass effect 2 over the terrible gameplay of the first one, but i also wish for more customizations and rpg elements that were removed to be put back.

So is it possible rpg crowd, by your rules are we aloud to like the game or if i dont im just a "twitcher?"

And about the changes they made on the leveling system, it looks to me they had spent most of their time and resources on other things (graphics and gameplay fluidity) that can boost their profit by appealing to a different target (FPS players). that's not wrong, you can't make everything perfect at the same time.I look at things at a positive perspective. Since they've worked their ass off on making those aspects of the game and actually gained a lot of popularity, it seems to me they can finally work on the other aspects that were simplified on ME2 to make ME3 a full blown complex yet exciting hybrid of RPG and TPS!

at least I hope they would....

I  expect, whatever the details, that ME3 will be as much fun as 1 or 2. It won't be perfect (again), but I  don't expect it to be bad. :)

I do hope they stick closer to ME2 in a lot of ways, but I  hope for some of the epic "feel" in ME1 that doesn't feel quite the same in 2.

This might have to do with the mission structure and story. Although, how can Mass Effect not be completely immersive? I know what you mean about the first one but ME2 is more immersive and it's darker. There is still a mystery about the universe and feels more fleshed out than in ME1. ME1 did feel more epic though.

Let's just be clear and honest though. Mako isn't exploration. ME1= No exploration. ME2= no exploration. Giving real exploration to the mass effect universe would be a huge improvement.

What really boggles my mind is how people refuse to like ME2 because it isn't an RPG and is basically an improvement over ME1. It's a shooter RPG just like ME1. The difference is they made the combat better, took out the ****ty inventory and mako and now all of a sudden it's a terrible shooter. How can you say this isn't a great game? How can you care so much about the mild and honestly very few good RPG aspects of ME1? How can you call the people who like it shooter fans? All that matters in an RPG= Story and character. The story succeeds imo. I feel connected to my Shepard and the characters.

ME2 had some retarded moments in my opinion. Like gas masks in a chlorine atmosphere (and vacuum), the boss fight right out of Contra 3, the planet scanning game, and the worst ammo system I have ever seen.

ME2 had much better AI. I enjoyed the character system in the first far more. I liked the weapon skills, the extra tactical options with weapons and armor.

Another thing that ME2 did extremely well was the environments. Most were fantastic.

But, I would hope that ME3 was more like ME1 than ME2. But, as long as I can mod the retarded stuff they do I am merely disappointed.

ME2 feels very similar to ME1 in my opinion. Feels like a darker continuation of the same story and universe...=]

AAH YES!  The epicness of watching sovereign and his geth fleet battling the alliance for control over the citadel! the glory of becoming the first human spectre! The temptation of leaving the council to die! i wish for the same epic feel too ;)

Indeed. exboomer, it seems to me through your desperation of getting someone else to blame besides Bioware you tried to generalize shooter based players to be nothing more than shallow minded kids. I'm 22 years old and know how it feels to be underestimated by older people just cause i'm younger.

I've played all kinds of games and my favorite genres by far are shooters and RPGs. I also happen to enjoy COMPLEX RPGs. to find a game that combines the two genres so well excites me. If i were you i would still support Bioware cause there aren't very many good games of the same genre out there. If you want to be heard, try to be smart about what you say. Bring up the facts and try to make comparisons... trust me, you'll get more attention that way
