I love how some of the sidequests in mass effect are just so off the wall in importance. Can you just imagine you're like literally trying to hijack your ship to go to Ilos and stop the conduit from being used and suddenly emily wong is like "commander i need you to plant this bug in csec control, the citadel air traffic controllers are overworked and a dangerous freighter collision could happen!" and shepard is like "huh. i can see how this could be important."
then in ME2 i'm marching to the presidium to rally an army to take on the collectors, and i walk past a guy and hear "i wonder if there are fish in the lake on the presidium?" and suddenly i'm like "huh... i wonder if there is?"
Something hysterical about the side quests

That has been a standby of RPGs since the first Zelda and beyond. "The world is ending, but could you fight four caterpillars for some apples for me? In return, I'll give you four apple pies. I can't go get them myself because there's a movie on Lifetime."
