I have seen several videos of Vanguard using shotguns on insanity. Will the same charge nonstop tactic work using submachine guns and you can be as powerful as a shotgun user?

nope, shotgun gives you the ability to one shot a mob, then dive for cover. if you have to be exposed on insanity for 2-3 seconds to finish a mob, you are as good as dead.

If you use the Katana or Evis instead of the Claymore, you might not one shot, but shotguns do tend to stagger foes a bit. With an SMG your target (and everyone else) will be blasting you. It's not very effective, but it could work if you pick the right target so no one else can hit you while you're attacking them (and maybe melee your target to stagger them a bit).



Don't see why you wouldn't use shotties though--Vanguards get them by default.

I use the SMG if I happen to run out of shotgun rounds. It can be done but the risk is higher.

SMGs are not nearly as good as shotguns for close combat.

The only time my vanguard uses his SMG is if both his shotgun and carnifex hand cannon are out of thermal clips, which is hardly ever
