This really ****ing bugs me.  Some people say the Protheans have always looked like Collectors but others have said the Protheans looks like the dude in the codex.  Those who say Protheans always looked like Collectors say they have proof and it's the beacon in Joab but those opposing the idea says it could be a warning from the Protheans about the Collectors...In ME3 everything needs to be answered so that there is no doubt of anything including the appearence of the Protheans.  The game made the Protheans seem like these mythical ancient race who was responsible for things like the mass relays.  But finding out they've been turned into these insect looking Collectors disappointed me a lot at first because when I first found out that the Reapers turned them into Collectors I was like "really?  these were once Protheans?" and the coolness of the Protheans was gone but then they said they were heavily modified genetically so I was kinda relieved.

Just think. You wiped out what remained of a once great civilization, who were forced into being pawns for the reapers. Nice thought isn't it?

Look in the codex in Primary and look at Extinct Races, it will say protheans and there is a picture there, that my friend is a prothean

Also, the statues on Ilos are probably the best indication of what they originally looked like.

I know, you'd think people looking at the picture of the Prothean in the codex would convince them it's what Protheans always looked like but some idiots have some other stupid theory because of the beacon in Joab that showed a Collector

go search on the gamefaq boards and you'll see a bunch of idiots arguing about this. there should be no argument because reapers changed the appearence of the protheans
