i know shepard can get 51. (2 for each lv from 1-20, 1 for each lv from 21-30 and one for bonus skill) but how do squad members get their points? seems a bit random to me. thanks

Just remember that your squadmates also get one point free, in addition to what's listed on that page. When you unlock their loyalty power, it starts with 1 point.

That's incorrect. I've done an new game and shep gets 51 total at lvl 30 but the allies are all over the place. None of them have 29...

Miranda and Jacob seem to max out at 1 point higher than everyone else. Except Shepard, of course...

Well, I went into my save game with an editor and while some squad mates are at lvl 30, not all of them are... So what's the criteria for getting everyone leveled up? I've already attained the 29k xp so, I take it those that are at lvl 24 are now stuck there? Makes zero sense. I've not played much with the ones that are at lvl 30 and the ones I've used often seem to be missing lvl and points.

I believe that Miranda and Jacob end up with 30, since they each start with 2, and everyone else ends up with 29. I think that it is possible that the number 29 does not count the 1st point in their loyalty ability, however, if it doesn't there should be 30 points for everyone, allowing 3 maxed skills, plus 1 extra point for miranda and jacob.

Why don't all of your allies just get 30 points instead of 29?

To clear up confusion: Your allies get 29 points that You, the Player, get to allocate. They also get one point automatically placed in their loyalty power upon unlocking. That brings their grand total to 30, including the forced point in their loyalty power regardless of whether or not you want it (gee thanks, Bioware). Unless your ally's name is Miranda or Jacob. For some inexplicable reason, they end up with an extra point (total 31).

No confusion. I realize that they are "supposed" to get 30 points total (sans Miranda and Jacob). However, I'm finding that not all of my squad have fully ranked. Nor received all the squad points.



I'll just check it off as a bug.
