Because your crew can be killed does that mean there will be a new crew?
As I see it, there are Three options.

You will have a new crew regardless of whether you saved them or not

If you saved them you keep the old crew; if you didn't save them, you get a full new crew

you don't have a crew; and you squad mates, joker, and EDI pick up the slack.

What do you guys think?

I think we'll get a new crew, perhaps with some old members that survived. I hope we get those engineers back... those were great. (And Chakwas survives either way, no?)

But I think, depending on the time between ME2 and ME3, the crew will have been placed elsewhere and such. I mean... some of them probably enlisted simply to stop the Collectors because their family were on certain colonies.

My crew won't get killed.

During my first play through I got this feeling ... I just couldn't let any of them down. Not a single one, even the ones I didn't agree with fully.

Maybe when EDI said it, just after becoming the Normandy and Miranda was woried about an AI on the loose: "You are my crew." I really felt that by that point in the game, they were all my crew. Even Zaeed, who I had to punch out to behave.

I just had to make sure all survive.  ^_^

Yeah that how I feel.. I don't want new crew going to last game I like the crew and squad mates i have. The only thing that needs to be done is for the them to build the characters more.

I had to make sure my crew survived, I just could not let them down. I would like some replacement marines for the ones who died fighting the collectors, preferably ones who wear armor and can point the gun the right way.

I think you'll get whoever you saved and a new crew person for anyone you did not.

Or maybe you'll just have EDI run it and have a TON of space to yourself...

I think it depends who we're working for (Alliance, Council, Cerberus, Green Peace etc.).

If you loose your crew I hope it's not replaced. We want choices to matter, right?

I think it'd matter even if you got new crew.  If you rescued your crew they are loyal to you; if you don't, they're not - worse yet, there may be moles from Cerberus, the Alliance or Reaper agents among the replacements...

I think the more crew will be replaced in ME3. Or at least the more minor ones. The more memorable ones that you can actually talk to will probably stay though if they aren't dead I think.

On new squadmates, I'm hoping you don't get more than 2 with the rest of the squad being filled up by Ashley/Kaiden, possibly Liara (she may just serve as an intel source for you in ME3), and all the ME2 squadies that are actually loyal/want to stay and have not died.

That probably means the ones that may not be in your squad for one reason or another will be Zaeed, Jack, Thane, possibly Mordin (if it happens then hopefully his nephew is just as crazy and replaces him), and possibly Grunt (he may just end up helping Wrex unite the Krogan I think. They did play up how important he is to the krogan in ME2 after all.).

I think Mordin will be in ME3 though unless it's like 10 years down the line (isn't he like in his thirties now?).

Ive said this in other threads and I'm going to keep saying it till ME3 is complete. I really hope that Bioware does not introduce any new Protagonists. I love the crew members from ME1 and ME2, but rather than introduce more characters, focus on the characters you have established in the first two games and on developing the main story. There is so much potential there for growth.

I enjoyed ME2 but I feel like there were so many missed opportunities to develop the original crew members more. For example: Garrus.

Heres a guy carrying all this weight on his shoulders because he feels he got his squad killed and at the end of the game he has an opportunity to redeem himself and regain his confidence by making him the leader of the 2nd Team during the suicide mission. But does anyone acknowledge the significance of choosing Garrus. No. A quick cut would have been all it took.

My point is this. ME1 introduced some cool squad members and I got to know and like them throughout the course of the game. In ME2, they benched 3 of the main characters (Liara, Ashley/Kaiden and Wrex) and introduced a lot more crew members. They introduced so many characters in fact that these characters and their side quests really hijack the main story.

Of all the characters in ME2, the only 2 that really set the scene for ME3 were Tali and Legion.

I like the new crew members and I'd like to see how all the characters develop and I'd really like stopping the Reapers to be the main focus of the next and final game.

I don't think we'll have a new crew. If your crew died, it's just EDI and Joker running the ship, as it is in the ME2 postgame if you didn't save them. If you did save them, they'll still be there hopefully.

I think you get the crew members who survived in your game - the characters are modular (and their interactions have been limited to make them modular) so the game can ship with all of them included and it will only show you those that are still alive.

If you lost EVERYONE you'll probably get Liara and Ashley/Kaiden as replacements, but that's it. You have enough for a squad to accompany you on missions, but cutscenes have a lot fewer characters in the background...

That's an Interesting idea because it rewards the players who saved them in ME2 with
all that extra dialogue, And it punishes players who didn't save them with
having to deal with no crew to talk too.

Doing something like
this would really show the weight of your decisions and consequences thou
out the games. Plus It really isn't much extra work for Bioware. They just
create all the crew interactions and dialogue like normal, and then remove them
for the people who didn't save them.

They did the same thing with ME2. There are at least three quest you get and a several people you see depending if you made paragon choices or not.

The whole point of renegade is short term gain(long term if you wanted to put the human council in), you shoot before questioning, you let someone die so you can get to something more important, you kill a bunch of innocents to make an upcoming combat easier.
But then you lose out in the long run.

With paragon, you generally don't get the same spectacular results. You don't see the benifits until months or years later. Its like that teacher who inspired a lot of kids to do well in school, and does not realize how influential she was until she retires and hundreds of successful people are there to wish her well or help her out.

Its long term gain verse short term gain, its not really a punishment for being Renegade, its the results of being paragon, they just take longer to come about.

I'd like to see the two engineers come back if one or both are alive.  They were interesting and their quest wasn't ''dark''.  It is nice to have some lighter moments in a game like this.  I wouldn't mind seeing them give out some quests that are then just shopping for parts.

The same goes for the doctor, and the cook.

As far as Kelly goes she is good eye candy, but not much else.  Couldn't Edi simply tell you you have a new message or so and so wants to talk to you?

If your crew is dead then I think they'll just replace them with new npcs.

Maybe Mordrin's assistant back at his clinic could replace Chakwas (spelling?) if she died in your suicide run.

There's that Quarian on Omega you can aide in a side quest.  He might make a good engineer.

Gianna Perasini might make a good replacement for Kelly, and make for a good recruitment quest.

That Krogan that's obsessed with fish could make a good replacement for the cook.

I'd rather see characters like that rather then random generic stuff.:D

lol....An internet win for you sir
.
But seriously, your point is well made.  There were great characters on the Normandy from the janitor/cook to the engineers to of course Dr. Chakwas and Kelly.   They had to be saved.  Problem is they all left the Alliance to join Cerberus.  My Shep is a sole survivor and he destroyed the collector base and then told TIM he was going to kick him in his daddy bags...of course he didn't but damn I wish he could. Even Miranda told him to kiss her steatopygian behind.

So since me and my loyal swashbuckling crew are now on TIM's and Cerberus' do not invite list I don't know what's going to happen.  I can't see them all of a sudden wanting to go back to the Alliance, nor do I see the Alliance jumping at the chance to take them back.  The ire the Alliance boys feel for Cerberus is well documented.  It will be real interesting to see how bioware resolves that.
