Considering they offered multiple endings and already started working on DA2 right after DAO was released (if not sooner especially story wise)... And the fact that the ritual offer is offered to you even if you sent Morrigan away, don't give her the grimoire, don't kill Flemeth... This feels like its important... Also there are multiple ending possibilities where you live and only 1 ending where you die...

I think they had the core story (the red thread if you will)  finished before they even started on DAO and I have a feeling all those major plot choices are part of it.

Why offer multiple endings and have a character shape a world, if you're going to canon it in sequel?

Which is why I do not agree with the theory that one specific ending was the true ending.....

lol not really how I intended it... Its just the only way the story really works in my head. If I had the choice I would have brought Morrigan along, made a stop at Wynne's place given her the baby and 20 sovereigns and we would have been off to save the world!

I'm opting for the Dark Ritual for my playthrough right now. Yeah I can understand IRL situation that would be a sensible choice due to human (can't really speak for the elves and dwarves though LoL. But in my 1st and 2nd playthrough my PC was a Grey Warden through and through and it just seems like a god-powered baby is the last thing you need to fight against in the future LoL. But I do think the Dark ritual plot would be a very interesting storyline for the future.



In any case I do believe BioWare have their reasons (other than being lazy) and there could an interesting twist in the grand scale of things. Who knows heh

maybe my negativity is just a ME2 consequence? that game + news about DAA made me very frustrated...

Shhhhhhh....  I have not played it yet. I have it here waiting to play!!!  I did a total rebuild "computer" and had not gotten DA:O out of my system enough to move on.   LOL

I did not play that one but I sometimes feel like I do since the "I romanced Morrigan and all I got was this lousy forum" social group seemed not to speak about much else the last weeks hehe!  
They did however make some romances at least appear as cameos if I heard correctly and I think it was said they wanted to make them come back in ME3. From what I gathered the devs wanted to use ME2 to find out how many people would stay loyal to their ME1 romances...
So not sure that is a good or a bad thing...

Oh even if Morrigan dislikes you and leave your party she'll be there in Redcliffe before the final battle? Hmm I didn't know that eheh...so I guess the Dark Ritual IS really important then.

i got mass effect 1 and 2 ready to play i'm just not sure about them they were meant for my lad but hmmmmmm i dunno might try them cant be any worse then awakening is goin to be

awwww... Actually I understood your post as pessimistic like a set thing, what I tried to say was that they would adapt that section to whoever you choose to be king. Imho that would be a good thing over a canon king!

And the reason I didn't romance Morrigan anymore (or the Dark Ritual for that matter) after my 1st playthrough is coz of the Sacred Ash trailer where she turned into that Giant Spider!! (no wonder some girls don't like her LoL). And I'm afraid of being sucked dry in her far away from other tent LMAO

My negativity  stems from Neverwinter 1 OC. which many didnt like, I did eventually. It was never followed up on.

You are hero of neverwinter, stopped the war, stopped the evil, Nasher considers your request to free Aribeth (if you let her live) - and... nothing.

Oh except in the hordes expansion we found that Nasher decided to kill Aribeth anyway. When my all powerful character couldve cut his head off. In nwn2 (Obsidian) not related at all to first game but im suddenly working for Nasher? like I just wanna kill the ass but sadly he was plot protected again!.

These games certainly work on the emotions.

i like morrigan shes ****y but in a funny way though you would be if flemeth raised you so i get why morrigan is the way she is but after talking to her several times she opens up a little and shows shes not as awful as you think

She's not awful at all, in fact she and Flemeth is hilarious. I just think that she never have anyone close to her before, thus she shun away from emotions. I'm just saying the thought of making love to her where she suddenly turn into a Giant Spider doesn't really help me to help her with her cold tent issue XD

hehe I have arachnaphobia, so I'm pretty sure if Morrigan and me got into an argument she would just transform into a giant spider and then she would probably win. Then again women usually win the arguments so she might not have to... On the upside she can also turn into a bear (which must be nice to cuddle up to) and a sweet dog, which she could probably use to get me out of the house to take her for walks hehe. (I can already see her switching back to human form if a girl walks up and asks if that is my dog).

In that trailer however she had really ugly eyes... ewww hehe. I actually thought Leliana looked better in that trailer however, her eyes where very different too...

Well I have a habit for admiring tragic characters that often end up dead in these games. Ive yet to see one live. Maybe I just like tragic characters because they are tragic.
