I know Bioware isn't well known for doing multiplayer rpgs. However, the older rpgs did at least contain the ability of online multiplayer support. The thing is that when playing Dragon Age: Origins I felt like I was playing a game intended for up to four online players, especially since you pretty much have four party members right from the get-go after the origins story and stay that way for the entire game. Ultimately that left me feeling like I had somehow disabled multiplayer support and was thereby punished to be stuck with 3 npcs at all times. So the biggest question I've had on my mind: is there any hope for multiplayer support coming with this expansion?

That would be really awesome... however, I doubt it'll ever happen :(

You still have enough of mp games round.

Stick to your wow with huge kids community or go play aoc , leave this game as sp for all its story/lore and joy of it

The thing is that its not impossible. 360/PS3 have networks in place for that kind of support. The PC/Mac version can do LAN support like the previous Bioware games did. As for combat it could work the same it did before with pauses from one char pausing the game for everyone. Since 360/PS3 has mic support built in and PC/Mac could very well do the same people could pause, talk strategy, plan actions, then unpause. I think that would make for awesome gameplay experiences.

What are you talking about, there haven't been any good mp-support rpgs out since NWN. MMOs do NOT count because they are nothing but crappy grind quests designed to keep players hooked so they'll keep paying for another month. Multiplayer in the older Bioware games didn't take anything from the story/lore and made the gameplay a greater joy to behold.

Ah, but multiplayer Baldur's Gate is fantastic, and the lack of multiplayer was what kept me from running out and immediately getting DAO when it was released. You misunderstand "multiplayer" as "internet multiplayer with randoms". All I want is LAN multiplayer or the like, so I can play DAO in the same way that I played Baldur's Gate. There doesn't need to be any fancy garbage like designing multiple player characters and importing them, just the ability for more than one person to control any subgroup of characters like in BG. I can see having a BG style character arbitration screen where each player is assigned one or more characters to operate in combat. One player is naturally the main character and controls all dialogue/story options.

Multiplayer isn't a MMO exclusive. Baldur's Gate I & II with multiplayer  was great fun.

I would love it. It is very possible to do, I just don't think it will be done. It wouldn't just be mp though for campaign and such, it would be great if there was a mp option to battle online.

Dragon Age is completely 100% incompatible with the multiplayer genre. Same with Mass Effect, for that matter.

Explain how. This is absolutely no reason why it would so completely incompatible in my mind so I really want to know your explanation of how.

Because of the number of story-impactable choices and playstyles. Aside from the fact that ME and DAO both contain pausable combat, the game is just too diverse in the scope of choices to really work as a multiplayer game.

Will Awakening have multiplayer? No.
Will multiplayer be an option in the Dragon Age universe? Maybe one day.

Dude that has never been a problem in multiplayer Bioware rpgs before, typically whoever is hosting the group was the primary char and their choices was the choice of the group in major dialogue trees. They could even expand on that for this game with players characters of different origins/personalities by giving the non-primary members in the group a chance to voice protests/comfirmations in the same way the npcs of your group does. It would make for interesting and immersive role playing.

It would be a pity if this game didn't make a move to multi-player...not like NWN but just playing through the actual game...that would certainly make DAO the best ever in my opinion. A real shame if not done.

Interactions between NPCs/Party members and the PC are a core part of the game. Mass Effect, specifically, is all about Shepard and Shepard only. Much of the gameplay would be the rest of the players just watching the host play. It'd be boring.

Yea and that's why it wasn't in Neverwinter Nights, Baldur's Gate I & II oh wait it was because it's fine that way. Really, you think it would be boring to watch how someone else would've treated the situation in your stead while playing with them? That it wouldn't be fun as a group decision discussed via mics about what the primary should say? Besides, that's seriously turning a blind eye to the rest in this game which as far as story and interaction games go is pretty combat heavy.

Please keep in mind I'm saying I want the OPTION of lan multiplayer play like they included in their previous titles and for it not be enforced as a multiplayer game. I'd love to have option to play it both ways, as a multiple/single player. What you've said is not a great reason for not including the option, much less saying that it's completely incompatible and thus shouldn't even be considered.

Personally I think it would be a pain in the arse to be in someone's party and they're hitting the "pause" button all the time. It would make for a very disjointed play experience for those being forcibly paused.

Why won't the DLC work in Awakening and will the new Specs work in Origins?

Tbh... It would be great to have a Multiplayer option. It just would have to be a kind of "expanded" single player... Doing the same Q's not only with pc controlled chars, but with a friend controlling a char. DA is a wonderful game, sharing the experience with a friend would make it even more appealing...

ofcourse it's a Single player game, what if the damn host change his mind the last second at the Urn of Sacred Ashes quest, are all the other 3 players gonna be anti-maker wardens? what if a player killed Connor in his game and join another game where Connor isn't dead?

what's gonna happen Orekoya?

I support a multiplayer request for DA. For no other reason then the entertainment value of the forums and youtube videos.
