So your ideas are so great that everyone who understands them has to like them, Danielsun2? Really?

o jesus christ, no! im saying if you dont understand what im trying to say then dont judge, if you do thats fine, debate is a great thing, but getting comments like 'oo whats next hello kitty island' or whatever it is called is just unnecessary i was simply pointing out that there if the devs wanted to there could be an option to have mini online games like defend the castle with people online,

I said like halo's matchmaking because it has a single player campaign and an online side totally unrelated, when i mentioned runescape i mentioned that because that was the best example i could think of, of peoples creations fighting alongside each other against an AI.

im not saying the game needs to change in anyway shape or form in the single player aspect its brilliant it truly is, but i was just stating that they could add some multiplayer if they wanted to without hindering the single player, maybe as downloadable content

This multiplayer hate is seriously misplaced. No one is expecting or asking (in this thread) for Dragon Age to turn into WOW or an MMO etc. Bioware makes single player story driven games, and we love them for it. But an earlier title of theirs, Neverwinter Nights, which was very similar to Dragon Age in almost every other way, also had the ___OPTION___ of online multiplayer built into it. It was still, just like Dragon Age, a single player story driven game with all the conversation options, companion influence, etc.

The purpose as I understand it, was to ALLOW THE OPTION of multiplayer USER GENERATED CONTENT ( IE, persistent worlds, or old fashioned DMing in DND style).

I am not a programmer, but would it really be so hard to add that capability to the toolset for modders? I am honestly not sure how popular the DM function ever was, and persistent world people will take care of themselves, so it wouldn't necessarily require much aftermarket support, or servers or things like that. Nor would Bioware need to retool the official campaigns or make multiplayer compatible expansions, the modding user base would take care of that.

Or is it that the game engine itself is just somehow totally incapable? If someone official could comment on that it would clear things up I think.

Ahhh yes i see, i DID misunderstand you~! you meant you want the multiplayer to be like Barbie World Online, my bad chum~! i'm sure you'll have the prettiest dress in co-op ever~!

I do like the bit bout debate'n but if anyone disagrees they just can't grasp your wisdom, that makes sense~!

The toolset's got nothing much to do with it.

Think for a second about what DA does -- you've got a program that doesn't look off of the user's machine for anything or send any info anywhere else, and now it's got to get data from a bunch of different machines, apply those inputs to a single game state, and then pump the relevant info back to all those other machines in real time. Of course that's going to mean a massive redesign of the game executable.

I would like to see Dragon Age have multiplayer for the single player campiegn. The way it works is you play as one of the companions or as the host. You dont import your own already leveled character. You either join the host where he is at as a companion or host your own.

Ok just gonna toss this out there. You create a Warden, play through the story, and have multiplayer where you can go into dungeons and fight your way through for loot etc. Think like a raid in an MMO. I would think that would be a lot of fun, to have incredibly hard dungeons for 4 characters playing to try and beat. Like a gauntlet kind of game mode, but not exactly. Therefore, you maintain the single player story and have a great game by itself, but you can also have a few dungeons to run through for people who just wanna meet up with some friends and kill some stuff. I think that'd be hella fun.

i totally agree that there should have been a multi-player/co-op either as a seperate client like NWN1-2 or included in the original game, it would have added so very very much more awesome to an already unbelievably awesome game.

DAO as an MMO oh HELL NO! that would be the biggest mistake bioware or even EA could do to this franchise....good lord i really hope EA stays the **** out.

Amazing how someone suggests cooperative play in the context of Baldur's Gate series and NWN and so many people start exclaiming how it would ruin their single player game experience and multiplayer is solely reserved for WoW (which apparently they also claim only caters to young teenagers). Am I missing something here?

And btw to the posters who claim that the in-game decisions could never work in co-op or the logistics are impossible, even ignoring the fact that such things existed in one form or another in previous Bioware games, you could also play with friends (real world companions > in-game NPCs ... well with a few exceptions I guess).

Imho many great games get even better when you play co-op but it's a moot point though the devs have spoken, which is fine they have their reasons. One can always hope for the future though.

  • Dao should at least make a multiplayer addon holyhell it feels like an mmo with a much better story but ur all alone no 1 to chalenge u or observe ur technique. i hate single player games cuz no matter how fun they are u cant play um with any 1 else so its like solitare redesigned by michael blain. God i wish they could make an mmo it has every thing needed except any room to explore:( . But no there gona let this game witch has a lare online solo comunity wtf? oxymoron there. it would be sweet playin a dragon age mmo that actualy applies ur choises i wanted to go full on evil mage Image IPB with morigan to raise our demon child then come back to an apocolypse of darkspawn. but sadly no u get ushered into the same ending regardless and in da2 holy jeez no point in any choises its so disapointing maybe R.l stine could help these guys make choise ur adventure style games they came close but so much lacking.

Explain how. This is absolutely no reason why it would so completely incompatible in my mind so I really want to know your explanation of how.

And how long do I stand tapping my foot as the party leader talks to everyone?
How long will the party leader still be in the game after he finds out he/she also has to stand around as I shop for an hour...hmmm?

Not to mention what if the party leader decides to finish a quest in a bad way and the rest disagree's? Do we get to PvP then and kill the leader? Hmm now we have PvP and all the classes must be constantly rebalanced. Mages time to say goodbye to uberness.

There are plenty of MP games out there, lousy stories for the most part, not so much talking but that is the trade off.

That would be cool haveing fights over disagreements who ever wins make the choise lol or u can vote or make it seperate from ur single player campagn but i bet there to lazy to that shame it would be the best game ever.

if you ever played runescape and played the mini games like castle wars, pest control etc they could have mini games like that

you create a seperate character for online, whether it be warrior, rogue or mage, all at lvl 20, if you rank up you could say buy better equipment, or you can all just have the same equipment, and you can have matches like CTF, defend the castle against darkspawn

it could be great :D

Wow...Even suggesting implementing something from Runescape into DA is a crime against humanity...

The day Bioware makes DA multiplayer is the day that I dropkick a baby...and you don't want that, do you bioware?

so be nice to babies and don't even consider MP as an option:wizard:

lol dont worry if it goes multiplayer we wont pick u Image IPB
