And by Geth, I mean the normal geth, you know, the non-heretic types.

Where were they when the Heretics attacked the Citadel?
I know that they accepted the Heretic's ideals and there was peace initially, but did they really just sit around and let the Heretics attack the Citadel, which could potentially cause a large scale war against organics and Geth?

Where were they when the Council sent emissarys to geth space?
All of the organics that were sent on peace missions to Geth were sent back either murdered or as husks.
Then the Council and Alliance sends Shepard and the Normandy to hunt down Geth near the border of geth space. Did all the Geth that Shepard killed just happen to be Heretics?

If the Geth accepted the Heretic's ideals wouldn't they still be obliged to protect their own when attacked? They obviously haven't because they haven't 'met' Shepard. As Legion has stated, the Geth have not met Shepard and all the apparent Geth Shepard met or killed were Heretics.

I'm kinda glad I blew up that Geth base. Otherwise the virus would have programmed the Heretics to be as p*ssy-footed as the original Geth. They would be as useless as hell.

I guess that the main Geth body took their "Everyone has the right to self determinate" ideals a little far :)

The fact that they disagree with the heretics doesn't mean that they're going to fight against them, especially not to help organics.

They probably live on their bases deep beyond the Perseus Veil. Which makes you wonder, actually. If all those geth that fought against Shepard in ME1 and those geth that actually bothered to make any contacts (hostile) with organics are heretics, i.e. a relatively small fraction of the geth population, then the quarians are in some big, big trouble. Guess it's a good thing that Shepard has an option to discourage them from going to war - it could be a bloodbath otherwise.

Even if they did live beyond the Perseus Veil it would still be in their best interests to curb stomp the Heretics. If the Heretics initiated a galactic-scale war against organics, it'll be against the Geth's interests since they stand to lose the most.

The geth haven't payed much attention to what happens beyond the Veil until very recently. Apart from some careful long-distance observation they've been content to keep to themselves. I suspect that they sent Legion exactly because they were concerned about the Heretics' actions. But they couldn't exactly send an asasult fleet, even if they wanted to; that would have just escalated the conflict, and it's not like the organics have any way to tell the two factions apart.

What religious group has ever successfully stamped out a heretic branch? Honestly, none. Only the French Catholics came close, and they had to practically depopulate large sections of France to do it and they are still suffering from that stupid decision.

They're sitting behind the Veil, working on a consensus and cleaning up the Quarian homeworld. Actually, they're probably still trying to figure out how the heretics can disagree with them. That discussion alone will take a few millenia.

They were busy getting conscience about the heretics.
