I'm going though my second play though and I'm doing Samara's loyalty. During Samara & Morinth's fight after Morinth's line about her being the future of the asari the sound cuts out. All dialog, music, and sound effects just go mute and don't come back until my Sheperd makes the choice between killing Samara or Morinth. I replayed the scene three times and each time the sound just cuts out at that point.

Has anyone else had this problem?
Can it be fix?
Should I be worried?

This is a known bug with no patch announced yet. Turn on subtitles when in Morinth's apt so you will know what is said.

Thanks. I'm glad to know this is just a bug and not a problem unique to me

I didn't have this problem the first two times, but the third playthrough i did. That was the first time i got the choice of killing morinth or samara, i wonder if that has something to do with it. Never had this problem when it automatically killed morinth.

I'm just gonna bump this thread so it can get some more attention :P

Had the same problem on my third playthrough. I even saved the game before that cutscene so I could reload and activate subtitles. I had this problem four times now (because I reloaded the scene once). Even when I could choose to kill anyone of them or when the game chooses for me the sound cuts out.

I too have gotten this issue on a play through. Well, actually it wasn't my playthrough (we have two xboxes)....so it didn't matter if it was the first, second or third playthrough. It happened on the second box first play through.

It's a bug that sux but luckily we had on the subtitles so nothing important (dialogue wise) was lost.

It happened on my first playthough but not on my second.

On both playthoughs I got the choice between Samara and Morinth.

The only differences between both playthroughs was I had just cleared the cache, my musivc volume had been lowered to 80% and for the first morality speech I chose the renegade option but the paragon option for the rest.

Got this on my first playthrough, playing from the HD.

I was actually looking up to see if there was video of this fight with sound when I stumbled across this thread.

My post from the “Sound cuts out during Samara loyalty mission” thread:
http://social.bioware.com/forum/1/topic/107/index/984009

The Samara/Morinth sound issue is getting a bit more than a little annoying now. In three games its happened twice.

I don’t skip the dialog so I can vouch for it not working when you do that.
I have also tried switching disks with no effect as well.

This glitch, bug or whatever you want to call it is really getting annoying to the point I have to wonder if the game wasn’t fully tested or debugged before getting released. It does make me wonder if the game was rushed out before it was finished more now than ever. This isn’t just some minor graphic glitch but a rather big issue that does ruin the game experience especially if you get to this scene for the first time through the game, like it happened to me on my first run through the game.

Does anyone know if this problem has been fixed with PC 1.01 patch and if so when can we expect to see a patch on the 360?

Did not happen on my first playthrough but did my second.

Playing from disc and I did not have the option to recruit Morinth the first time but did the second.

It isn't related. I killed Samara on my renegade playthrough and Morinth on my paragon playthrough and both times the sound dropped out at the same spot.

Happened in 5 playthroughs. Same place, same time. I am on XBawks. I have the game installed on my 120 Gig HD.

I irks me that i have never heard this conversation. It really irks me when I forget to enable subtitles for this part.

It is not THAT big of a deal but would be cool to hear the conversation play out.

To help identify the problem, the sound cuts out when Morinth and Samara having their biotic attacks collide and focusing on pushing the other's. By expectation, there is suppose to be a special sound distortion during that part of the struggle, but the code fails, providing no sound data until the effect is over.

I have an original, release day, X360, never broke. The sound is blank at the point for me every time.

Same for me.

Well, I've played through the game with two different characters and the sound cut out both times. But the game automatically decided for me both times, never had enough skills to choose, so it's probably not that.

I didn't clear my cache, but I did fiddle with lowering the volume under the options menu, bringing music, effects, and dialogue all down to 80%. Lo and behold, the sound returned.

If it worked for me and Malacath360, I'm curious to know if others will get the same result.
