Why no answer on DLC items?
#1

As it stands now, for example, my main character will be imported without at least 5 items that he was using....Starfang, The Edge, Helm of Honnleath, Harvest festival ring, Shadow belt....and that doesn't include the other items that I have collected like the Warden Commander's Armor, Journeys items etc...
and I didn't create 50 saves of this character so it isn't easy to go back and replay or gain the gold to go BUY the expensive items that do carry forward like Rose's Thorn....I'd like an answer as to how you are going to import my character...I guess I just have to make do without all of these items then?
Furthermore, I just bought RTO a few weeks ago, and now I find out that any items from there will no be able to be imported either...I would have likely revised my decision to purchase this DLC if I had known this would be the case....and NOWHERE did you mention when you were pushing this DLC that any items collected from this DLC or any other DLC would not be compatible\\carry forward to Awakenings, which is a continuation of my character's story line...
That is dishonest IMO....
I would just like to have an answer as to why this decision was made, I mean if it is just paying the $5, $7, $10 whatever dollars for the "very short" story\\experience and nothing else...fine, but at least be upfront with people about it...Frankly I am at a loss as to why these items would not be able to be carry forward in the first place, it makes no sense...and most other games that I have played don't do such a ridiculous thing...
I seriously hope that the you reverse your decision based on the reaction of your player community....but if not. at least give us an answer and not silence...I really think that decisions like this will hurt your ability to sell DLC going forward....

I mean.... They know you! They got your name! They know where you live!
And if you ask too many questions..... Well, lets say you don't wanna get on the bad side of BioWare

Uh thanks...I have and apparently they haven't answered this pretty staright forward question in ANY thread, so I made a thread to straight out ask....
Why the silence on this issue?

1) Legal problems. The DLC is only available via download from XBL or PSN or whatever the PC uses. Perhaps Sony or Microsoft has fine print in their contracts that forbid Bioware from packaging DLC together, which is basically what allowing Origins DLC items in Awakening would do.
2) Programming problems. Maybe it's too expensive or too time consuming to get the DLC items to work with Awakening. I read that the DLC items are actually coded differently to be protected from modders so PC users can't just download a clone of the Warden Commander Armor without paying for it. I'd rather ditch the DLC items than wait another month or two for Awakening anyway.
Or maybe they just hate you and did it to harvest your tears. The point is stop whining already, what's done is done.

While I know some fans are not happy with this, the main reason is, due to the advanced level of Awakening, the items you want to bring in would be rapidly less effective than the materials you start with or find early on in the game. Yes, in DA:O Starfang (or similar) are very powerful, but since you can reach level 30+ in Awakening, they would be ineffectual.
Trust me, there are heaps of cool new armors, weapons, spells, etc that you will want to use in Awakening that you will quickly learn to appreciate even more than your DLC items from DAO.

There now stop ****ing.

Get over yourself...fanboy
that is probably the last DLC I buy from Bioware...what a rip off...
great...now I have to go back and reacquire items I sold or acquire enough gold to buy the items that actually do carry forward, so I don't end up importing in with 1/2 my crap gone...that is a pain in the ass...

I am kinda sick of watching my Warden run around in the same armor for hours on end, and I look forward to owning better armor or better-looking armor....and two more tiers!!

They never promised you that any dlc would carry over to the new expansion. You are going to find better stuff in the expansion anyways.

"I'm afraid all sales on our tables are final. No refunds. You can still use the table here in our store though, so it's not a total loss!"
"If I had known I'd only be able to use your horribly overpriced tables in this store, I wouldn't have bought one."
"Well that's your own fault. You should have researched more about our tables and how this store operates."
"I've bought whole kitchen sets from this store before and never had this problem! Why are you being so unreasonable?! "
"If you don't like it, feel free to not buy tables from us anymore. We have plenty of other customers who are more than willing to put up with coming here every time they want to use theirs. And BTW. I killed your dog."
"NOOOOOOO!!!"

Oh. Yes. Screw ROLEPLAYING.
It's not the gift that matters, but the quality!
So if the kindergarten throws away your kid's drawings, it's absolutely FINE as long as THEY have drawn something that looks better!

Or not.

Here's some roleplaying for you:
<Knock-Knock>
Mr Warden? I'm from the Ferelden Royal Treasury? It's come to our attention that you've grave-robbed the personal effects of our King. Well, his wife and the country would like those back please. And really that armor was tailored specifically for Cailan, there's no way in hell you should even be able to wear it.
<another figure barges in>
Hello, Warden Commander. I'm the liason from Weisshaupt. Thank you for looking after the swords that were gifted to Duncan but we want those back now. They're Grey Warden property. We're' going to overlook this little infraction 'cause, well, you know, blight stopped and all. Also, all that stuff you loo...er borrowed from our warehouse in Denerim, we're prepared to regard that as an emergency requisition to supply the new branch in Amaranthine. But, let me assure you, now that I'm here there's going to be a lot more following the rules and regulations around here. And what's this I hear about Dark Rituals and pregnant witches....

"Well, screw you -- I personally fought off the darkspawn and gave the effing king a proper burial before you lot were ever concieved, so take a hike. The freaking new king is my best mate, and these swords, I'm keeping them. Got any problems with that?"
NPC dialogue choices:
1: Alright... We're leaving... No need to get upset (Live)
2: Yes, we DO have a problem with th... (Death)
...
I was kind of OVER this whole thing, thinking -- perhaps the main character HAS given the armor to the new king, tossed the awesome helmet without any owner in the lake one wet evening, and thrown the ring of effing power into mount freaking doom... but no...
They're removed BECAUSE there's better items in the expansion?!?!?!?
WHAT?!
...
Do we at the least get full store price for the items, or do we have to reload the game, sell the items manually -- and then finish the game again, to get the benefit we deserve from the items we have aquired?

But seriously, there is absolutely no justification for ANYBODY to be supporting this decision by Bioware. It's ridiculous and makes no sense from any single perspective be it coding or the items being overpowered (or according to Bioware underpowered for Awakening o.O)
We get better items? Awesome, that's great, but what about the fraggin gear I paid money for? I didn't pay for half-cooked codex entries, I paid for gear with a little bit of story thrown in. I don't give a nug's behind if they ended up being the weakest and worst items in Awakening, but at least give me the choice to use the stuff I paid for. Again, it's the principle behind this people. It really is shocking how so many are placated by a Dev dropping in and giving a half-cooked explanation and not even questioning it.
And people complain about PC piracy nowadays. Yeesh! Respect the consumer and they will respect you.
