While the variety of gameplay in Mass Effect 2 is one of its good points, there is a lot of untapped potential over the the setting of various combat and exploration scenarios in ME2.

For example, missions set outside the hull of a spacecraft.

Mind you, this wouldn't actually require any change in the mechanics of the game: In fact, EVA has been done in Mass Effect 2 to a degree: During the opening gameplay sequence when Shepard first walks out into the now-destroyed Normandy CIC, the view of the planet Alchera outside the Normandy combined with the weightlessness of the objects is rather breathtaking. And fighting in weightless environments have also been done - Legion's Loyalty Quest for example.

The idea I have then is that it is possible for either a ME2 DLC or Mass Effect 3 to have missions where Shepard has to operate and/or fight in the vacuum of space, along the hull of a spacecraft or a space station for example, or even on the surface of an asteroid. This would allow for more breathtaking views and background to be presented in combat, while at the same time mixing up the same old planets or starship interiors we're all used to by now.

Thoughts?
