Bah, i've never ever seen a Sci Fi game/movie with non atmospheric spaceships correctly designed.
A spaceship should be able to move in any direction without having to do a 180°, have no blind spot, fight back from any angle, have no "structural weakeness" (/hug the dev who put this line in the game) and have his helm/CiC safely placed in the ship (so you can't crash or shoot it like Star Wars or a carrier and rely on a 2nd CiC or worse having the ship derelict).

Of course such a ship would definitely not be sexy and not good for marketing.

I dunno, I think they should do it. And instead of being a Spectre and/or all-around galactic bad ass, Shepard could be a galactic insurance claims adjustor, since that's so much more likely and realistic. And he'll go to work in his boxy space cadillac.

Sounds like a hit.

As opposed to, say, the Destiny Ascension, which was doing so well against Sovereign, until the human Alliance came and bailed it out.

Or not, as the case may be.

Moral of the day; if it's easy, it's no challenge, and it's not worth doing.

the normandy 2 does suck. but only because it shows a lack of creativity on bioware's part. a terrorist group reproducing a top secret, one-of-a-kind ship that was a collaboration between two species? ya rite. they should've just given us a completely different ship.

The official line is that Cerberus operatives, working within the Alliance, kick-started the Normandy project to gain access to sophisticated turian technology.

And let's face it, the turians have been in space since before humans were shooting at each other with sharp pieces of wood, so their tech is going to be a bit more advanced than humanity's.

Cerberus was in large part responsible for the original Normandy, just so you know. Talk to EDI after she's been unlocked.

You do realize the new Normandy completely obliterated the collector ship single-handedly while flying around in a huge amount of debris and incredible odds right?

Is it just me or does the Normandy have some serious design flaws.  For example it has no point defense system (the lasers the Codex mentions for repelling missles or whatever else)  something like that would have been nice against the Occuli.  Then there's the fact that even with all your ship upgrades it barely makes out in one piece.  I mean what kind of ship has billions of credits poured into it and only has a single gun that can't be rotated

We aren't going for the broadside, here.  A [stealth] frigate in the ME universe is quick ship designed to short strikes and then disengage the target.  It shouldn't have to rotate a turret, or use a point defense system, because with it's tactics it should never find itself in a position where it needs to.

It's because they spent all their money on a magic elevator that opens on the opposite side on deck three?

Uh. The collector technology is like...lightyears beyond anything anybody else was currently capable. That's why the SR2 barely could compete.
