I was just wondering why there is no origin story for human commoners? I mean the humans can not all be nobles in the DA: O world, so why is the human race the only one with just one origin?

Any info would be appreciated.

Humans have two, they can be Magi. And the Human Commoner Origin was cut, due to the 'CHILD OF DESTINY' trope, they felt it didn't fit in well with what they were trying to do with DA:O.

To bad, I would have liked to play a human commoner. Fighting your way up is kind of appealing in a RPG and I never had a thing for robes and magic, I need a lot of plate armor and a big sword to be happy. :)

I wouldn't have minded either, but I understand why they're trying to avoid the 'farmboy/girl saves the world!' thing.

Well it seems to work with "farm dwarfs". <_<

Anyways, no use complaining about it. I'm looking forward to the game and if I have to play the noble good looking human who saves the world instead of the good looking commoner human who saves the world it won't kill me I guess. :D

That's kinda what the devs were going for I think; I mean the whole stereotype hero setting isn't exactly what they were looking for in this game. Personally I think they way it seems to be turning out is the best to promote new ideas, removing the option of the typical hero and forcing people to stick with a poor elf or dwarf if they want that kind of setting.

There isn't one because we didn't put one in the game. And humans have two origins, not one. As for why, the answer is "because." Pretty simple, really.

well, I would have liked that, even if it lacked conflict, but I'm fine with 6 origins :P

Like Lin said, I would have liked it, but I'm fine with the options given.

In a way, City Elf is better because you get a lot more prejudice aimed at you than a human commoner would. Human commoners would still look down on the elves, who are at the bottom of the totem pole.

yeah human commonor wouldnt work so well. I think human barbarian would be cool (they talk about barbarians in the stolen thone) I think they're from south of the korcari wilds in some frozen tundra.

I did wonder why there isn't any Human Commoner Origin. I guess it wouldn't be much of a difference to the Noble since elves are of lower status than any human.

They haven't shown a human commoner for about a year now. There was one but it was cut.

Because you see a character type in a trailer, we have to have it as an origin story?

Shurely not, but it would have been nice and it seems that the demand for such an origins story is there.

Well who knows, in the age of DLC there may a human comoner story in the future.

They've pretty much established that implementing an entirely new origin might be too much work for just a DLC, since it'd required threading throughout the rest of the game.

It's basically expansion-like work, but I don't think a lot of people would be happy with a $20 expansion for a single origin.

I wondered about the Human Commoner as well. It's ok without one though I guess. The Humans get 2 origins and the Dwarfs get 2 origins. The Elves get 3? And I'm not even really a fan of Elves lol.

I was pretty disappointed by this myself. The character I like to RP as in video games is definitely not the royal blood type :P We'll see how it goes I guess... if I'm supposed to be some kind of spoiled bratty character I'll probably just start over with a new character.
