Its not like humans can only be nobles, mages, commoners or farmers.
There could also be barbarians, assasins, lone warriors, pirates, brigands, thieves, shop keepers, templars, beggars, drunks, barbers, blacksmiths, village idiots, etc.

Technically, you are a noble character in a place where dirt-farmers still hump pigs, kind of setting. This makes you more like an "average person" today, and a priviliged person for the age. How much you chose to play "noble-****" becomes your own part, I'd think.QuanziZ wrote...
I was pretty disappointed by this myself. The character I like to RP as in video games is definitely not the royal blood typeWe'll see how it goes I guess... if I'm supposed to be some kind of spoiled bratty character I'll probably just start over with a new character.

... wait, so you don't like to RP pig humpers? Isn't that what everyone plays these games for...?

.....
....... Apparently I've made some false assumptions

Because you see a character type in a trailer, we have to have it as an origin story?JACOBDRAGON wrote...
i think its stupid in the video you see a human commoner w/e lets see i the games worth my money
Now in absolute fairness Stanley when the game was announced and I started following it way back on the old site. and the older forums. Human commaner was listed as one of the origins. Now it has never been maid clear why that is the case but I don't really care. It's not so much that it was in the trailer but that it was announced in the begining as part of the game.
Anyway that is just my two cents.
Thanks.

There isn't one because we didn't put one in the game. And humans have two origins, not one. As for why, the answer is "because." Pretty simple, really.CmdrCash wrote...
I was just wondering why there is no origin story for human commoners? I mean the humans can not all be nobles in the DA: O world, so why is the human race the only one with just one origin?
Any info would be appreciated.
I doubt it could've topped City Elf or Dwarf Commoner.

The real reason is that it probably just wasn't any good. With the dwarf and elf you at least have the novely of playing as another race and getting reactions accordingly. As a human commoner you'd pretty much just be an unremarkable dude that nobody can really react to. It's not surprising to me that it got cut, but it still feels as though humans are quite shorted (their mage origin is just the elf mage with a few different lines).
A human barbarian origin would have roxord my boxorz

I doubt the real reason is that they wanted to avoid "Child of Destiny", despite what they might say on these boards. After all, the CE and DC were both living much worse off than a HC would.

More importantly, as a Dwarf Commoner you get to play a street thug.

But to be honest, You have a human and dwarf commoner origins, with human commoners always being the stereotype heroes in RPG and fantasy. I don't really mind. I like elves better anyway. Dwarf beards are too short in this game for me to love it though....
I would have loved a Qunari origin or dalish mage.. but what the hell, 6 choices seems plenty

As far as other people's reactions for the rest of the game would be, Dalish would still treat you the same, but templars and the Chantry might be a bit more hostile towards you. So not a tremendous amount of work to do.

Many things can happen between trailer and final product. You'll even see movie trailers featuring scenes that don't make the final cut of the film, and aren't included in the special features on the DVD. For one reason or another--pacing, can't make it awesome enough, redundancy, time, too many issues, actor won't come out of his trailer for re-takes, tech designer got carpal tunnel, executive decision, mime invasion, puppies, Oilers didn't make the playoffs... again!--a thing gets changed or cut during development. it happens way more often than you know. Devs generally don't talk about what might have been because that's not what they're selling. They're selling the finished product, and if that finished product doesn't have a Human Commoner origin, or Ash sleeping for thousands of years, or Neville apologizing to the alpha male infected and returning the uncured alpha female, that's unfortunate but that's just not what's in the final product, for good or no.
