If you read the description of her research project it says how her great biotic strength is linked to a "progressive neural degradation." I wonder if there was going to be more on this, like a mission to cure her, but BioWare ran out of time and couldn't get it into the game or maybe even left out for DLC or ME3.

I doubt it'll kill her. It might make her stupid though.

Yep I noticed that too. Her biotics are probably killing her. If she's not in ME3, this will be the most likely reason.

She's not dying no...At worst she'll end up like the folks during Jacobs loyalty mission with massive "neural decay". They may even play on this in ME3 depending on how things go. Ex: If you have her as a LI she may not remember you if any time is spent apart (prolonged of course) due to this neural degeneration. OR, an even more entertaining idea (I just thought of this thinking back to Jack's Loyalty mission) is that she may start "retro-aging" mentally meaning she might not neccesarily get "stupid" but just start digressing further and further back until she's a child mentally again but with the biotic strength of a god (which is the effect of her neural degen is that her biotic abilities are getting stronger because of it.)

her condition isnt something that can be "Cured' Its an unfortunate side effect of all the experimentation on her.

For all the super-medicine available in Mass Effect, a lot of people sure seem to have problems.

Thane, Jack, Quarians, Volus...

i don't think "progressive neural degradation" means death. just that she's losing her mind. sort of makes you wonder how much of her issues stem from emotional trauma rather than actual brain damage. Thane might have a few theories about it.

Wow I never thought of that. Maybe all the torture she recieved as a child is only part of her anger.

I'm sure the neural degradation means she's just getting crazier. Having two squadmates with incurable terminal illnesses would show a serious lack of creativity on Bioware's part.

"Better to burn out than to Fade away."

I see that as being a very 'Jack' way to be. I think she knows she's killing herself too and just doesn't bother you with it. Which is why I found it funny a few days back when some folks were saying she's a drama queen. She's not going to bow down to her condition, even if it kills her.

It seems the more degradation occurs, the more powerful her biotics get. I suspect eventually, she'll end up becoming more insane(that's possible), and she'll eventually will needed to be taken out as she goes berserk with her biotic powers.

Actually, it would explain a lot of Jack's behavior if she knew or suspected that she was either going to die or lose her mind. She lives like there are no consequences. Maybe she knows there aren't.

I wonder if you paragonize her, stabilize her, it would make her less powerful a biotic? This was my impression.

I'm pretty sure there was previous mention of neural degredation in Kaiden's spiels on the BATT. It is also mentioned by the doctor's logs, but it sounds more like a 'given' where the only difference in Jack's case was that she wasn't becoming less effective at biotics like all previous biotics have (such as, from L2 implants). To me it sounds more like its normal with the exception that she was becoming more powerful despite it.
