Yeah, after 8 playthroughs, I no longer want to scan planets, it's just not enjoyable.kraidy1117 wrote...
Not cheating at all, I have beat the game 7 times, scaining is a pain in the ass after your third playthrough.

LOL like it was a good idea and was kinda fun at first, but I think Bioware did't relise that this would not be fun anymore. Good idea, just did not work that well.

I am a Mako fan, I loved driving around. It helped make the game feel much larger than it was.
also i still can't believe how many people fought trying to climb 90 degree angles when the path to go around was just a few feet away

I loved climbing 90 degree angles personally.
It felt great to be able to come in from an angle the enemy was completely unsuspecting you to come from.

The fact that you selectively upgrade shows that planet scanning is a chore. If Bioware isn't creative enough to make acquiring resources fun, then at least limit this chore to 1 play. All successive plays should have 100% of resources (or, better yet, you should be able to keep everything you earned.)andyr1986 wrote...
I scan intermittently when i require resources and only scan rich planets. It takes no time at all, I don't really get what people are whining about.
Also I have recently started to selectively upgrade based on my main squad composition. In this play through its Pistols and Sub-Machine Guns. With a little shotgun thrown in.

Both Mako driving and planet-scanning are chores that got old after one playthrough. The difference is, you don't need to planet scan for minerals to complete every mission and save every squad member.massive_effect wrote...

If you want decent weapons/armor, you must planet scan. In ME1, you could avoid the Mako completely and still acquire resources to get the best weapons.Ecael wrote...

You could get every weapon without the Mako sidequests. So, all of your weapons would be upgraded.Merlin 47 wrote...
I actually liked scanning the planets. If they go back to how it was in ME 1, then my weapons won't get upgraded. I couldn't stand doing those stupid button games. And the Mako! May it burn in hell now where it belongs!
At least when you replay the game, you keep all Heavy Weapon research projects. I'd like to have kept all the upgrades I did myself as well, but having at least all the Heavy Weapon projects is better than nothing.
The Fable 2 economy is one possible way. In Fable 2, you earn money by renting shops and houses. At first you have to work in a shop, but when you start buying homes, you earn money without doing any work. You eventually have unlimited resources.BellatrixLugosi wrote...
I'm very mixed about this. Sure they are tedious but I just keep thinking that no one has a better option about collecting minerals besides just buying them out of a vendor, which is cheap and easy. I don't know I kinda liked they exploring of minerals in the first game better then the way the second game did, but for me, doing these tedious tasks just makes me play the game longer, which I rather have then play a shorter game.
If you want a higher difficulty than Insanity for Mass Effect 2, you don't upgrade at all (which is similar to a New Game+ at Level 30). Even if you want to spend resources, you'll have 60000 of each resource to spend with the import and Long Service bonus. Instead of buying everything out, you actually have to watch what you spend. You'll still have more than enough Element Zero to cover all the biotic/tech upgrades as well.massive_effect wrote...

This economy could be implimented in the galaxy somehow.
