The melee with a normal weapon does plenty of damage...it's unnecessary.

I think it would be nice if Soldier and Vanguard had some sort of melee weapon... like a bayonet or a gauntlet type piece of equipment. Don't make it an actual weapon, but something that does extra melee damage and a different animation when you hit your melee attack.

They could also incorporate a simple combo system (Two hit combo, maybe that you have to time) for Soldier and Vanguard utilizing some of the real world melee techniques when holding a weapon (Muzzle slashes, butt slams, etc). Seeing as how the Soldier is... well... a combat arms master, and the Vanguard is all about getting in your face... there should be some kind of unique melee bonus for them.

look don't go overboard with the melee weapons we'll all be happier. I think choosing between a combat knife or gloves is the best we should get.

Chuck Norris can bring a knife to a gunfight.....and win.

No but seriously, the idea is good, swords etc are always fun but it might ruin the game. I mean, the other games didn't really have melee weapons so it would kinda ruin it if there were some in ME3

They should make a futuristic sword that looks like a beam of light but cuts through everything, and comes in different colours...

First watch this

Now, what did we learn?

Can you think of the appropriate answer to the OPs question?

If not watch it again.

Yes, let's have melee weapons in Mass Effect 3! And while we're at it, let's change the name from Mass Effect 3 to Knights of the Old Republic 3. That would make everyone happy!

not weapons but animations. and no aiming: if there's something in melee range and i press the "melee" button, just make shep hit the closest thing without having to maneuver an over-the-shoulder camera perfectly.

They could be pretty sweet, but on the other hand this isn't Warhammer 40 000. So I'm undecided on this one.

The person who can go invisible, use their mind to control physics, and/or teleport probably

And it's not 100 meters, the longest range you encounter enemies in the game is like 60-70 meters, at which point the enemies don't even attack you

Wtf? Soldiers in real life are armed with knives. There are even several gameplay explanations why it would be possible for someone to ninja an entire armed enemy squad in Mass Effect, also.
