Well, Shepard's gameplay at any rate.

I think it's stupid enough, that Shepard can punch down a YMIR-Mech's health when it's stunned.
That would be like a soldier punching down a light tank with bare hands.
Melee-Weapons don't fit into ME.

More melee animations... maybe.
I honestly can't think of any tactical reason for adding more melee attacks into the game. My vanguard already has a melee combo of charge > shotgun > forearm smash > shotgun. Additional melee attacks would just end up being grossly inefficient ways to defeat and/or control enemies.

I can see it now, charge, stab someone in the leg, and when their head swings down in pain, the end of your barrel is right where it needs to be lol.

Besides, anyone here not see what Shepard is capable of lifting? He's f*cking throwing I-Beams around like nothing. Do you really want to get punched in the face with a guy who can pick up sh*t that must weight a ton?

But it could be nice to have a dagger as a side arm. It could be available exclusively as a close range special move that instantly kills.
Personly I would expect a race as the Krogan to have kept melee weapons as side arms in their warfare just because shooting someone from a distance is rather unpersonal. They enjoy killing others so I am sure that using something like an axe, dagger or club would be more fulfilling to them.
With the heat clips its also a good back up for such warlike races that dont mind getting their hands bloody.

Haha
this post doesn't make sense, this is like saying that guns don't make
sense in Mass Effect because you can't destroy tanks in real life with
your fists (or guns for that matter).
The scenario you are describing (punching a tank) actually makes LESS sense than the alternative, which is using a weapon.

Swords would not make sense in the
Mass Effect universe. They didnt make sense in KOTOR either for that
matter. Just didnt fit in with star wars.
UGHGHGHGH vibroblades were already a part of the Star Wars universe before KotOR

No. Melee weapons would be incredibly stupid in Mass Effect.
WHY!?!? Armed forces are equipped with melee weapons in REAL LIFE.
People keep saying it makes no sense, but does the alternative (bashing
things with your right fist and killing them in two hits) really make
more sense!? That is a rhetorical question obviously.

As much of a fan of melee attacks as I am, I still say melee weapons really don't have a place in Mass Effect. Now, a 2-3 hit combo would be pretty cool though!
Just put in the executions from Gears.
Or not.
Instead of the chainsaw, Shepard gets the cattle prod thing he used to zap that Batarian with.

You can melee people with your weapon isn't that enough?
Perhaps if you're a transhuman SPARTAN-II equipped with 800-pound armor trained from childhood to kill and are augmented chemically and mechanically until your strength, speed, and endurance surpass twice of what is otherwise possible in humans and your armor is specifically and irreplacably engineered to multiply these capabilities
Otherwise no
