I've always thought Miranda saw sex as just another tool in the box. Her father paid for her looks. She might as well use them.

saw this discussion yesterday, (but wasn't on my laptop to post) - i don't agree with this view at all - Miranda uses her intelligence as much as - if not more than - any physical ability. in-game it is also kinda obvious that she's in charge of the most difficult science projects cerberus undertakes - i don't think that would involve much "spy stuff" or using her looks/sex as a resource, but the ability to organise/run teams and research.

For me it has always been obvious that Miranda is good as a spy. It's not her primary focus, that would be science and research as you say, but you don't get to be a black-ops field operative if you aren't good at the spy stuff. That would include using sex as a tool. I don't think Miranda likes it, but IMO she has the ability and the way she talks about her looks, she's used it that way in the past.

This, pretty much. Science, specifically thr problem solving aspect, is clearly her passion, but she does other things as well. Haven't played it, but it sounds like she functions much closer to a intelligence agent in Galaxy. Let me be clear: I'm not saying she sleeps with anything that moves, but honey traps are a legitimate part of covert ops, and Miranda is the type of person to use every tool at her disposal, as appropriate. She's killed people in cold blood. She won't scruple over sex.

I agree with you, but I'd like to point out that scruples over killing and disliking using sex are very different things. You may not have scruples about using sex, but if you feel strongly enough that you're defiling yourself then you won't do it anyway. At least, should it come to actually sleeping with someone instead of just creating impressions and leading men on, which is at least half of the game.

admittedly i haven't played galaxy, but is miranda actually an intelligence agent? her title is certainly "operative" which suggests more than just project lead and lab-coats, but not necessarily secret-agent behaviour.

I know this question's been asked before, but I'm twisting my brain in knots trying to figure out the relationship between Miranda and Niket. It's obvious she loved him, but she doesn't seem to have romantic feelings for him. So, I figure they were close friends growing up. Then I remember that Niket had no clue how poorly Miranda's father treated her ("a life of wealth and happiness"). So, how close were they? She discusses her father fairly early on with a Shepard of either gender. You'd think she'd confide in Niket even more Why does Niket think it was just a case of Miranda wanting to leave home and Dad not letting her? Or did he know what was going on and rationalize it as "not that bad?"

I would say they where best friend growing up as for him not knowing what was going on with how her father treated her I would say she was protecting Niket from it probably out of fear of him doing something that would get him killed or that he would be scared off but it and she would end up alone

She is some associate of her father, maybe an employee.  They were good friends growing up, and very close to the point he helped her against her father.  Obviously that was it.  But his "life of wealth and happiness" statement is a little odd given what else we have been told about the guy.

I think that Niket did know a moderate amount of Miranda's upbringing. Miranda would've held the really painful memories close to heart and probably wouldn't of told Niket about them. Niket tries to justify his betrayal by explaining that Miranda's upbringing wasn't all that bad and that his monetary difficulties were worse.

I wonder if the happiness that Niket saw is because Miranda saw him as a true friend and that she was genuinely happy when she was with him.

I am not sure what it meant.  From what it sounds like Miranda was treated like a test subject.

True.  I guess if Miranda never told Niket about her sister maybe he didn't know alot of other details as well.  Still Miranda seemed shocked Niket would come to that conclusion, she seems to have assumed he knew just how bad her father was.  I mean if you can really call him a father, a 'creator' seems more apt.

Frankly it is a point of faith to trust Miranda that her version of facts is accurate. I do so simply because I usually do with my party memebers. I really hope they are.

I don't think she's going to have much trouble staying employed. She's fantastic in Chuck and should have enough exposure now to get good gigs.

I trust her, too. The alternative is that she's a lying manipulator who kidnapped a child because she had a fight with dad. Or she's delusional.

I know.  But I still want the show to go on a little while longer.  She is great playing off Zach and Adam it would be a shame to break that trio of actors up.

Yep it is usually this that leads alot of people to dislike her.  But knowing everything else we know about her: how genuinely committed to causes higher than herself, how great of a leader, how emotionally stable, and how competent a person she is it strikes me as unlikely she is that messed up in the head

I have got to get Firefly.  I have seen a few snippets of the show.  At least I can watch it front to back in its entirety.

I think the fact the movie Serenity just barely broke even makes it unlikely the show will ever come back unfortunately.

Yeah, my money would be on lying manipulator if her version of events isn't accurate. If she did lie on such a massive scale, she's a dead woman.

I hear somewhere that Joss himself said that he would not go back to the series as too much time has passed but he's not against making another movie in that universe

I did say I trusted her. Her entire personality would have to be a lie, otherwise.
