I hear somewhere that Joss himself said that he would not go back to the series as too much time has passed but he's not against making another movie in that universe

Yeah I don't know enough about it to know if that is a good or bad thing.

But it is usually the characters that make the show, not the setting.

I think I figured it out, they are 'stress' testing their sites' servers and tricking us into thinking it is some other type of 'event' :P

But his "life of wealth and happiness" statement is a little odd given what else we have been told about the guy.

I wonder if the happiness that Niket saw is because Miranda saw him as a true friend and that she was genuinely happy when she was with him.

I am not sure what it meant.  From what it sounds like Miranda was treated like a test subject.

Miranda herself admits her father gave her everything she could want, as long as it was money and material goods. But she also said that there was always a price to pay for everything he gave her. Besides, she was kept isolated, with no true friends and every decision about her life was not in her hands but in his.

The problem is Niket didn't understand the tue problem Miranda had with her father, which was the fact she didn't have a say in her life. He also failed to realize that history would repeat itself when it came to Oriana (perhaps in an even worst way, after Miranda's escape) and that was the reason Miranda did what she did.

By the way, good to see this thread is going strong. ^_^

Yeah, my money would be on lying manipulator if her version of events isn't accurate. If she did lie on such a massive scale, she's a dead woman.

I don't get this. What did she do that was so bad that had lied she would be a dead woman? She gave Oriana a good life, and protected her against anyone who would harm her. I don't see how that's a lie on a massive scale.

Her actions if she had lied would be reprehensible but not unforgivably so, IMO.

We love jtav but she seems to stay up at night thinking about different ways that Miranda could be a horrible person.

:D Oh, OK.

Anyone has any clue as to what the big event will be? I've been away (dead laptop, now zombie laptop) and don't know what's been up.

We'll find out very soon...

My more wilder ideas have things such as the release of mod tools for ME or the all Miranda ME expansion.

I am prepared to be disappointed by the probable misuse of the word epic for this upcoming event.

Not a clue only it will be something that will impact all Bioware customers not just us ME fanatics.  I am thinking something either related to the website or a new IP game.

Ha! Guess I deserved that. Assuming her father was merely distant or demanding (say, like Tali' dad), she kidnapped a child from her rightful father and manipulated Shepard into making sure they were never reunited and murdered a friend to make sure it worked. First class sociopathy. That's if she lied.

What do I actually think happened? Miranda took steps to remove both herself and her sister from an abusive situation. Her father's the sociopath, and it's to Miranda's credit that she found the ourage to leave. She will do anything to protect Oriana, and her (potential) killing of Niket was out of grief.

This.  She escaped from her father with Niket's help and her father tried to terminate the test subject in the process.

Glad you took me having a little fun in the spirit it was intended.  You are a great contributor to this thread.

Hehe everybody is logging on now for the announcement.

The board software is dying a slow and terrible death by overload.

It'll be nothing if the announcement is unexpectedly awesome or unexpectedly dull. The forums will melt in either praise or complaints.

Is it just me or have load times been getting really sluggish for a couple of days now?

I can see where you're coming from but I still disagree. Even if Miranda had lied the way you describe, she still gave Oriana a good life with loving parents, all the while protecting her. Miranda didn't manipulate or screw up her sister's upbringing in any way. I think that clearly distinguishes her from a pure sociopath.

I agree with you that what really happened was your second description.

I was wrong.

I guess it depends on what the stuff is if I am  interested.  Bioware memoriabilia like the original concept map of Baldur's Gate 1 or something might be worth winning.

Even worse: "This Contest is only open to residents of the 50 United States ..."

Epic snub.

I have returned from a self imposed exile to finish some class work (why did I decide to do grad school, lol). Some random thoughts to celebrate my return:

Baldur's Gate II is still the best video game ever.

Bioware's announcement = epic fail

How is everyone this fine Monday?

I have to agree, while Oriana might have had more wealthier life with her father and even without the abusive nature of his fathers, we know that money doesn't make you happy. It could open up more options, but the options might not be much better than the ones one could have with less money.

I haven't checked the previous pages, but I guess you don't mind if I post the Monday's necessary.
