@Maria I never really thought about why Miri has more female fans than Tali, and sadly since it's 4:19 AM here, I'm afraid you won't get a good answer from me, but it is interesting.

Anyways...

*Goes up to Andy, and whispers something to him, then promptly bonks him on the head, causing him to fall over*

There, we dueled, I won, can we leave now?

Okay, I've tried escaping, twice...I've tried Deus Ex Machina-ing my way out, and now I've actually complied with your demands and you're still keeping us here. I'm going to try something new and daring.

I'm leaving, and Andy's coming with me.

*Calmly walks out, several guards attempt to stop him, he simply responds with 'No.' leaving them dumbfounded. he eventually manages to find his way home.*

Andy, I assume you can find your way home from here? I really should go to bed.

*Cuts out GPS device with a Knife*

Sorry, but I'm really...really tired, I'd love to keep this going, but I kinda feel like we've hijacked the thread.

Night everyone, take it easy.

Edit: How did I miss that flashy is turning in? Night Flashy!

I have finally figured out why the sex scene bugs me. The engine room would already be virtually deserted because of the kidnapping. And there's no acknowledgment of this and no real sense of the seriousness of what's going on. At least if it takes place in your quarters, you can try to mentally block out the kidnapping. The whole thing's treated very much like a pair of teenagers sneaking off for a quickie and not two adults who care about each other having sex for the first and, possibly, last time.

I have to agree about this (yet again.... weird). The engine room scene is the only Miranda scene in the game I don't like very much. The mood is more or less OK when the camera focuses on Miranda and Shepard and doesn't show much of the surroundings, but the setting is like a cold shower, especially when you consider that there aren't any people not because Miranda "cleared the room", but because they are all kidnapped by the Collectors. I'd have liked it to take place in Miranda's room. Block the office part with a kinetic barrier (I'm sure that exists) and there should be no problems with...er...surveillance.

what? you two are nuts: for one thing the emphasis isn't on the missing crew, it's on themselves: having one moment of serenity before going on a possible suicide mission; the engine room is neutral ground, and i guess, more exotic than eithe room (though shep's makes more sense as a private space later).

Good night Odin and Flashy! And Kab, I think?

I'm heading to bed too. I'm at a puzzle quest in DAO and I'm too tired to think it through.

Have a wonderful day Andy and all the other European/Australian folk!

Perhaps it's because Miranda is a much more empowering role model for a woman than Tali.

And yet....the engine room setting at this particular time ruins the intention of showing that this is about having some time for themselves. I didn't say it was about the missing crew - I said that the fact that the crew is missing intrudes on the intended mood. At any other time the setting would still not be my favorite one (sex on a hard metal surface, and a structured one at that?), but it would be OK. At this time, it's weird.

Nah, it's because men are more open to interspecies sex... for better or for worse.

well i gotta say: no matter how many times i watch that sequence (about 4 so far), i can honestly say the missing crew never even enter my brain...

That may be the reason there are many men in the Tali thread. It's not the reason there are so many women here.

And it's for the worse, if you ask me. Interspecies sex is complete nonsense in the first place. I've posted enough about that that I won't repeat the rant yet another time.

Yay!, someone noticed my comment. :)

Sadly, as you posted that comment with that picture, I have a feeling many will miss the actual words of your post.

I think both Tali and Miranda are ‘empowering.’ Miranda might be more sure of herself and in control, but Tali is a technical genius, a role you rarely see women in. One of the things I like about Mass Effect is that it tends to feature women in non-traditional roles: Miranda, Samara, Jack, and Ashley all lack ‘girly’ personalities while Tali and Liara might be girly, but are both in intellectually challenging fields.

well we only get to see the "foreplay" part of the activity, might be the explanation for that....

i agree with you about the talimance thing - as a character and individual i can see it, but from a biological point of view it's a complete no-no, as is garrus, thane etc.
