Lol, were they the "If you can't hit x dps GTFO!" kind of guild? My guild was full of laid-back people so I didn't have to worry about that. They let me dps/heal on my other toons. Have you ever tried doing Naxx while on Vent full of drunk people? HILARIOUS.

I quit WoW shortly after Burning Crusade was released.

Hearing people talking about it now it is like they are talking about a game I never played at all much less one I sank a frightening large part of my life I can now never get back into.

I've been clean for a year and I'm never going back!

Is this WoWA meeting or something?

It is not a coincidence I met my future wife three months after quitting.  Putting down the WoW pipe was a big step forward.

I now never play MMOs I know how badly I get hooked on them, but passing on TOR is going to be a toughie.

I wasn't a WoW addict. I just took advantage of the fact that my brother never used his account :P. I took a hiatus shortly after Ulduar came out and **** hit the fan when I came back 6 months later. My guild broke up and most of my friends left the server or didn't play as often :( There was a bunch of new content that I had to catch up on so I tried to complete it before I gave up.

My thoughts on the game exactly, it wasn't fresh enough. I found myself losing steam halfway through the game. It's not bad, by any stretch, but if you're expecting a unique experience like the original, it's gonna be disappointing.

Sorry Odin, missed this before. It seems my impressions were right anyway, I guess I made the right choice waiting until the game gets cheaper, lol. Does Rapture feel at all different? Or is it even the same areas as the first game?

Shepard and Miranda are like a binary star system. They both shine brightly and pull and push on each other but neither is diminished or dulled by the loss of the other.

Others tend to be more like planets orbiting Shepard with other LIs just being the closest planet.

I'm quoting this again, because I think it's one of the best analogies anyone in here has come up with and I don't want it to get glossed over by anyone. I wish I could say more about it, but gutty really hit the nail on the head.

I'll quote this yet again with the suggestion that DarthReavus put in the OP - so that it needn't be quoted again  :P

You definitely get a sense of decay and time progression... and while you go to all new areas with the exception of one, it has that unmistakeable Rapture look and feel. Got to admit though, using plasmids and guns at the same time is probably the best feature of the game...that or infusing the cyclone trap plasmid with pretty much any plasmid. A cyclone trap that launches the enemy up into the air and sics a swarm of angry bees on them....classic!

Haha, that does sound pretty cool. I think I'll have to get it soon because it's one of those games I had originally been really waiting for and I still need to play it at some point.

The binary star metaphor is a bit problematic, I think one star can end up absorbing the other. Planetary orbit, on the other hand, is probably more stable.

You missed the point - which is that no star is the center in a binary star system - as opposed to a planetary system. And that a planetary system is not anything without its center - as opposed to a binary star system.

(Didn't think I had to explain that....)

Am I the only one who wishes you could import characters and stats from ME2 like you can with DAO? Granted, there aren't many stats to import in ME2, but still. I hope they implement that for ME3.

No, you are not the only one. It would definitely make multiple playthroughs a lot easier. I also wish that if you have dlc on one platform you don't have to pay to have it on another. I love Bioware but I'm not paying them twice for the same thing <_<

That would mean you keep your abilities in ME3. I'd like that, but high-level characters are much harder to balance than low-level ones. And you'd need something significant to gain in ME3 level-ups when your abilities are already very good from ME2. I ahve my doubts, but yes, I'd like to see that.

I'm aware of what you were trying to get across, I was just expanding the metaphor to illustrate the possibility that their two powerful personalities could interact in such a way so that one of them ends up consuming the other. On the other hand, the LI's who "orbit" Shepard in this metaphor might be more stable in the long run. Anyways, that whole "orbit" thing does the other LI's a deservice and I think it's a faulty metaphor. If anything Miranda is the single LI who has most consistently demonstrated a tendency to subsume herself in another person's goals. It's what defines her and a lot of her romance with Shepard is him helping her get beyond that.

I hadn't even thought of the DLC issue because I only play on my 360, but that's a very valid point.
