Lol she said she's a little weirded out by the Miri love scene haha!
She was? Still too busy to watch the interview.
Hmmm that's not good...
Well, she said it in a playful manner, she wasn't really that serious lol.

I'd be weirded out by seeing a video game character whose apperance is based on me having sex.shinobi602 wrote...

The AOTS interview is possibly the most awkward interview I've seen in a while. The host needs a punch to the face... the in-studio audience (or crew... whoever the **** was laughing at that idiot making **** jokes) need to be punched in the face... **** I feel like I need a punch in the face for watching the trainwreck and not stopping it. At least Yvonne handles it well.

I knew it'd end up being like that, which is why I chose not to watch it.

shinobi, I don't see the degree of bashing I used to. The only bit that turns me into a frothing maniac is when she's described as a "poor little rich girl" who had a fight with dad. Everything else I can shrug off as different tastes.

I knew neither AOTS nor G4TV, which is why I unsuspectingly klicked on the link.AccursedOdin wrote...

I agree with the punch in the face. Someone should fit his head on Khalisah al-Jilani's body in ME2, then I'd have a motivation to use a Renegade option I've never used before.

I've been sitting here thinking about how much my conception of Miranda and seeing her as sympathetic hinges on her father being abusive (psychological. I'd be shocked if he laid a finger on her)
I thought it was made pretty clear her life was in danger. If she failed to meet his standards she would be wacked and he would try again.

Same here. I'd say treating your daughter as disposable counts My point is that if Miranda had merely a lousy childhood--like Tali--then she stops being sympathetic to me. I'm not sure if this is good or bad.
Tali's childhood was not that lousy. Her father was tough but not unloving.
Without further data I can only take Miranda's word that her actions were justified. I trust her.
Pending further exploration of that plot of course.

Ok.

Warcraft III is tied for my favorite game of all time.
Diablo II is in my top seven.
I still voted fo BIoware. I love Blizzard, don't get me wrong, though having released only one game in the past seven years? Bioware works hard to bring us new games at a constant pace and have done so for the last decade. If you truly love the game, whether it be Baldur's Gate, Neverwinter Nights, KotOR, Mass Effect, Dragon Age, or Jade Empire, lets show our support for Bioware. If you have a twitter, retweet it and your vote counts twice.
We sit here all day posting. Whether you're on the Tali thread, the Miranda thread, Morrigan thread, Alistair thread, or even rooting for nasty old Ugly Shepard, we all need to band together andshow the developer who has consistently brought us great games some love.
C'mon people, it takes two minutes. Do it for BioWare.

AOTS is however mainly a news source on G4TV and by 15-20 minutes into the show things become more serious and doesn't become completely brainless again until either the end of the show or certain segments that are meant to have a comedic tone. The show itself, after watching it many times over the past 3 years, is good. Every TV show has a blunder here and there however and yesterday's episode with Yvonne was one of them.
Okay now that my rant is over, I'll be on later to play Gears 2 with some of the lot of you (you know who you are), so save a spot for me and MSG me later, thanks

Thanks, Valmy. You're right. ME does a better job of conveying romance through the sex scene. There's a "one night stand" vibe to Miranda's scene that I despise and doesn't gel with the rest of the romance. It came off as cheap fanservice, and not all that hot, either. I don't mind sex in my video games, but it has to fit the character and situation.
I know I'm late to the party, but I have to strongly disagree with you and Valmy.
I thought the scene was perfect as is.
No need for talk, everything was well laid out for both in their previous interactions. That is another contrast between Miranda's scene and the other LI's which I loved.
Whenever Shep and the other LI's talk right before the scene, I feel that there is still some doubt, and perhaps even a slight lack of trust. Not so with Miranda.
They already knew how deeply they cared for each other and what they wanted. They followed their feelings and let them guide their actions.
Her invitation shows how sure she is of what she wants. She wants to be with him, no reservations, no doubts. Which is even more incredible considering how distant and guarded she is with everyone else and how she was with Shepard in the beginning.
As for tenderness, the tummy hug is for me the best demontration of tenderness in both games. There could have been a bit more tenderness, but when you consider how starved for real, deep, loving intimate contact Miranda was at that point in her life, it's understandable how she quickly took control of the situation and increased the pace.
I don't understand why you feel there's a "one night stand" vibe to the scene. When I see it, I see a man and a woman who are so confortable with each other and trust each other implicitly, that all their actions feel completely natural to me.
EDIT: Actually, now that I think about it , to me the whole scene feels like it's happening between two people that have been together for a long time and understand each other completely on a very deep emotional and intelectual level.
Anyway, that's my opinion. It needs to be spread around.

This is interesting. So many different opinions about that scene. I agree with you, Sleepy Buddha, that there's no "one night stand" vibe in this scene. But I'm uncomfortable with it for other reasons, and I also think that the ME1 style of scenes was, all in all, better.Sleepy Buddha wrote...
