Everything reads normal on the router and the modem. So I officially have no clue what it could be if it is something on my end.

No idea if I'd lag or not... they aren't even to level 40 yet!

*grumbles*

O well, hopefully they will be up for it tomorrow.

Thanks, Valmy. You're right. ME does a better job of conveying romance through the sex scene. There's a "one night stand" vibe to Miranda's scene that I despise and doesn't gel with the rest of the romance. It came off as cheap fanservice, and not all that hot, either. I don't mind sex in my video games, but it has to fit the character and situation.

I know I'm late to the party, but I have to strongly disagree with you and Valmy.

I thought the scene was perfect as is.

No need for talk, everything was well laid out for both in their previous interactions. That is another contrast between Miranda's scene and the other LI's which I loved.

Whenever Shep and the other LI's talk right before the scene, I feel that there is still some doubt, and perhaps even a slight lack of trust. Not so with Miranda.

They already knew how deeply they cared for each other and what they wanted. They followed their feelings and let them guide their actions.

Her invitation shows how sure she is of what she wants. She wants to be with him, no reservations, no doubts. Which is even more incredible considering how distant and guarded she is with everyone else and how she was with Shepard in the beginning.

As for tenderness, the tummy hug is for me the best demontration of tenderness in both games. There could have been a bit more tenderness, but when you consider how starved for real, deep, loving intimate contact Miranda was at that point in her life, it's understandable how she quickly took control of the situation and increased the pace.

I don't understand why you feel there's a "one night stand" vibe to the scene. When I see it, I see a man and a woman who are so confortable with each other and trust each other implicitly, that all their actions feel completely natural to me.

EDIT: Actually, now that I think about it , to me the whole scene feels like it's happening between two people that have been together for a long time and understand each other completely on a very deep emotional and intelectual level.

Anyway, that's my opinion. It needs to be spread around. :P

nicely put and mirrors my sentiments. :D

You know what
would have been really neat to have in game? A second mission for
Miranda where she has to confront and wrestle with Cerberus' dark side.
She appears to be about the only Cerberus officer/project lead with a
rudimentary sense of ethics, and I'd love to see her dealing with the
atrocities done in Cerberus' name. Maybe even something she had an
incidental hand in. Would make her resignation less abrupt.

Have
you read Ascension? It would have been really interesting to hear what
she would say if she was a part of that incident. I know she mentions it
in-game but for all we know, she might not know all the details like
that a child was involved. The whole "members from one cell may not be
aware of another and their activities". She seems to be disturbed by
experiments on children when you take her to Pragia.

it does come up in me2 (i don't know whether it'sconfirmed jack is gillian or not but the similarities are too much to make it likely 2 people had the exact same upbringing) and miranda states that that sort of thing is an unequivocal mistake.... of course that doesn't mean that cerberus hasn't/doesn't do these things without TIM's knowledge, at least at certain points.

I remember thinking Jack was Gillian, until I heard enough of Jack's back story to dismiss that theory. Can't remember what it was exactly, but something didn't match up.

I'm trying to get a few good Miranda screenshots in Omega's lighting. Here are two:

Also, I've spend the last two hours reading the Codex. Two interesting facts which might pertain to Miranda:

*Miranda was 7 years old at the time of first contact with the Citadel species. That could have affected her outlook and may have contributed to her taking up with Cerberus.

*Alliance legislation limiting genetic engineering of humans was passed only in 2162. Whatever Miranda's father did, his experimental genetic engineering procedures probably weren't illegal yet. At the very least, some country would have been found where they were legal.

As awkward as it was, I feel bad for the interviewer... he was decimated by the Yvonne effect. He was doomed from the get go.

Everytime I look at the pic I think, it's poor work, but never mind. :pinched:

I'll play this game with attention on good places for Miranda shots. Too bad in-game positioning is very difficult most of the times. Miranda keeps going just the few centimeters too far for optimal lighting. These two are the best of about 20 tries.

I'm playing in 1920x1200 on an overclocked 8800GTS. It was surprising to see ME2 run so well on this old card, but it's  perfectly smooth going.

Edit:
Grrr...my hosting site is glitchy again.... No. 94 can't be loaded while no. 95 can. Weird.

I know it's hard to get the right shot, I've tried it a couple of times. But you get great shots. The only thing that could be improved would be higher res and/or AA, but that would require a higher res screen or a more powerful gfx card.

Alas, I play 1280x800 because even though I have a 1920x1200 screen, my laptop only has an 8600mGT, so my screens would be much worse then yours. And yeah, I'm also surprised how well ME2 runs on my 2.5 year old laptop.
