Anyone care to speculate whether engagement rings are still in use. I'm trying to design one for Miranda, preferably one that could conceivably be afforded by a twenty-six year old staff lieutenant/lieutenant commander. And no, she doesn't get to wear it.

My Adept Shepard was the most fun to play. Instead I'm having a bit of trouble with my Infiltrator because I'm lousy at shooting and always run out of sniper rifle ammo too fast. There's nothing like automatic-hit abilities! To say nothing of automatic-hit-around-the-corner ones.

Man I love sniper rifles.  Especially that one that shoots three shots at once.  Once I get you in my sights you are dead DEAD!

There is one that fires three shots at once? Where do you get it?

And, one thing is really nice with a sniper rifle: you can kill enemies in cover, only a part of the head must be visible. And btw, I'm not necessarily bad at shooting aötogether, only at shooting that has to be fast and accurate at the same time. Unfortunately, that's very often.

On another topic:
I like your idea of an appreciation letter. But I'll decide about whether to sign it or not after I read it...:P

It's the Incisor Sniper Rifle, Collectors Edition and DDE exclusives (or might've just been DDE I forget).

Tis awesome and of course due to it being bonus weapon, the super awesome of it is that your party members can have it too :wizard:

Still in use in 217x? I'd have trouble finding any in use today. Formal engagements are rare where I live, mostly restricted to conservative upper middle class families.

They're still in common use here in the States. Or at least presenting the lady with a ring is. Kneeling while doing so? Not so much.

In my experience  presenting the ring whilst down on one knee is still very much common practice here in England.  At least once you get above the pond slime at the base of society....

Thanks!  And I was sorta hoping this would be a community effort so if there is something that could be improved let me know.

I did.  It was very dramatic as befitting the personality of the woman I was asking.

Hmmmm...Anderson was getting a divorce in Mass Effect: Revelations did it even mention a wedding ring in that book?

Be back in a couple hours. Those who are wanting to play Gears send me a message on Live if I'm offline.

I'd think wedding rings would still be common. Engagement rings, perhaps not. I also don't know other (present day) cultures' wedding customs, I think there would be significant cultural crossovers.

If I was writing a story set in the ME universe where such things are important, I would make an effort not to take any present day culture's customs for granted.

In my opinion, the giving of a ring (and everything that it symbolises) will never vanish....

I wanted rings to be in use because it's an easily recognized visual cue that a proposal is imminent and something Shepard is unlikely to throw away even if she died before he could use it.

I'd kill her off in a heartbeat, if it served my purpose.

But read Shepard's age and cond consider Miranda's line of work.

No. Nor the one after that, which is the one I'm thinking about. I would kill her if I needed to, but genera;;y I find her more interesting alive, growing and changing. But I like putting her through hell and seeing what she'll do.

Oh yea. Killing Miranda is more like the end of the world to Miranda fans (even Yvonne fans, too).

firecleaner, I'm using the shopworn plot device of faking one's death to elude bad guys. It's not her fault Shepard fell hard or that those bad guys had atrocious timing. This is all in flashback. The main story is what happens when the Lazarus Project reunites them.
