You know, I know this has been said before, but now that I honestly think about it, the fact that Miri is an "ice queen" at the beginning and any notion of a relationship with her seems hopeless at first makes the results so much more worthwhile.

This might sound weird, but to me, she's the type of woman that I'd tell my son, "You know son, I worked hard for your mother" (meaning to be with her). It's a nice feeling. I think I empathize a lot more with this due to my own personal relationship. It paid off in the end, being engaged and all, finally. It was the same with us, at first it didn't seem likely at all, but it was literally like chipping away at ice, slowly and gradually, to finally allow us to be able to let all our guard down and be real with each other, to show that, it's ok to be vulnerable at times, and there's no reason to hide feelings anymore.

That's how I view Miranda and Shepard. You can tell the tension between them. They both WANT it, they're just hesitant...scared at first, until finally Miri sees that it's ok for her to feel the way she does, and in the end embrace it.
