So FemShep gets an awesome dress whilst ManShep gets screwed over with a simple reskin.  That sucks <_<

I don't mind. There has to be something where femSheps are better off. Doesn't quite make up for their non-existing romance choices, though.

why does there? maleshep is the default for the game. always has been, always will be.

People always bring up this argument, and it really makes me go up the walls. Default Shepard is a marketing icon, nothing more. If only maleShep had to be considered, then why let people make femSheps in the first place. Why not give him a standard face and let it stop there? I say either go all the way, or use a standard face - I was comfortable with The Witcher, after all. But this half-assed implementation sucks.

i agree a semi-predefined character just hurts everyone, ultimately. however can you imagine the complaints (particularly from a vocal minority of female players) that would happen if choosing your gender wasn't included in a BW game? you can't escape the fact that some of shepard's attributes are locked down, which is why you can't be evil, for instance - shepard is a hero. he was also quite clearly designed to be a male, hence the default appearance.

femsheps do not deserve any special treatment, and the intimation of such really pisses me off, because those players often act like they are entitled to such.

And I'd like to add to that that many FemShep players act like they are the players of the One True Shepard, and that ManShep is an abomination to be destroyed.

Grrr.......***hangs on the ceiling****

You need a defined person for marketing and stories. You don't need them for a game. Effectively, we're all playing the ME games in our own alternate universe. That's what a game - an RPG - can do, that's what it *should* do, as opposed to a book.

Shepard's gender was not locked down, as opposed to some of his attributes. That's what counts. And if they gave us the choice, they should've made sure that femSheps had an equally interesting experience. The voice acting, for instance, is first class. FemShep faces are nice. Everything, in fact, but animations and romances got equal attention. So the intention of making a Shepards of both genders is clearly there. They just got lazy, so animations were locked and femShep romances are awkward and feel like not much more than an afterthought.

Edit:
I just read your edit: I do agree that femSheps don't deserve special consideration. But neither do they deserve to be treated as an afterthought. For instance: maleSheps got three interesting romances, femSheps got, if you're generous, one. That's why I said if the femShep outfit you get with Kasumi is better than the maleShep one, well, they've been treated as an afterthought regarding the romances, so it's nice to see a little balance here.

Blah blah canon debate.

The only thing I've ever learnt from these debates is that people will moan and **** no matter what you do.

So the only thing they learnt from the reaction of imbalance is to balance it with more imbalance?

Ok...you're quite correct. There's only one thing to do:

To walk away...

well i'm very much looking forward to finally playing kasumi's mission today - having finished my 4th shepard run-through (as i realised me2 doesn't make an "end-game" save like me1 did i had to go back and pick moringth and keep the station to see how that plays out) i really don't have anything to finish in the game, unless i do a paragon run, and i don't really want to.

Thankfully I must be one of the 'few' then, but then again I play both Male and Fem Sheps as I like variety.... that and my main renegade Shep is based on Motoko Kusanagi (naturally an 'Infiltrator' class as it sooo fits her character... cloak and ai hacking, just like motoko can do in 'Ghost in the Shell').

Ultimate Female Strike team... Motoko, Miranda and Kasumi... MM K :wizard:

Trying to make a banner. Still not 100% satisfied. Yvonne's pic doesn't really fit, and miranda's is a bit too small, hard to notice, but I won't give up a double wink
Image IPB
I took the "Miri Effect" logo from one of the banners in the first page. Hope he/she doesn't bother.

Also, I thought if anyone has ever seen Miranda smiling. I mean, a girl's smile can definitely make me , but she is always a bit too serious. Well, the whole crew is. I love chatting with Joker, (even Mordin a bit), because he reliefs stress with his constant jokes. I don't know, maybe saving the galaxy from the reapers it's serious business.

But... "Start smiling, damn it!"

How about this one - OK, more a hint of a smile.

She also smiles at The Wink. I don't have a shot from that scene, though - I never hit the moment. And there's another moment where she has a broad smile, I don't recall where it was. Why don't you look into the group discussions, there are lots of pictures there.

@Ieldra: From what I remember, Miranda has a good smile during the suicide mission after walking through the seeker filled area and having everyone survive. After you get the call from Joker/EDI saying that the Normandy Crew and the escort you assigned them survived, Miranda smiles and says something along the lines of "Great, let's keep it up". Hope that helps

Yeah I'm playing it now, just picked her up. Her VA is Claudia Black I think, she did Morrigan as well. Makes sense she voiced Morrigan perfectly too :)

"Its weird to see Miranda smiling while she's working, and it's all because of you. Be gentle with her Shepard"

That's what Kasumi says regarding your romance with Miranda :D

Thank you!  Here we have a great game like Mass Effect that has given us endless hours of entertainment but some people complain as if Bioware kicks their dog on a daily basis.
