Much better that yesterday's event is no longer an issue

i'm not aware of yesterday's event so I'm not sure what to say about that...

as for L4D...hell yeah!!!  :wizard:

It was the personal black cloud hanging over my head in life.  There are still months left to go, but I think it will be easier to handle than sitting in a creepy hospital for the entire day trying not to crack from the anxiety, lack of sleep, and phobia of hospitals.

On a slightly different tangent...

Installed a program a few weeks back...and it threw 5 files into my start folder (you know...click the wsindows icon...click all progs...in there)....

Now im very fastidious about stuff like that...everything has to be neat and organised....so I created a folder....put them all into it....job done I thought...

But...next time i started pc....files are still in my new folder....yet all the files that were originally loose are back loose again (so I have now have them loose and in a folder too)....every time I delete them....and restart pc....they effin come back....

anyone got any idea how the hell i can finally stop them re-appearing?

No clue, but google the program to see if there are any complaints/fixes to the problem. Thats what I usually do when stuff isn't working right. There seems to be a forum for anything out there.

you must get rid of that one day kab... can't let it hang forever.

Install it again? Something could have been messed up when you installed it the first time...I really have no clue to be honest with you. What program is it?

The following isn't an "excerpt" in the usual sense because there's no story to go with it. I've been toying with a story where Shepard and Miranda had a romance prior to the events of the game, but she was forced to fake her death and they were not reunited until the events of ME2. So far, I've been unable to get that story to work, but this particular fragment won't let me rest. It's very rough, and contains far more exposition than the "real" version would. Hopefully, I can make a proper story of it someday. Enjoy.

"I trust your accommodations are satisfactory, commander?"

Daniel barely heard EDI. His gaze was fixed on the model ships mounted on the wall above the desk. The turian dreadnought had a slight chip near the bow as if a small boy had thrown it against the wall. His cousin Charlie had been very frustrated that it wouldn't really fly. This was his model ship collection. "Who brought these up here?"

"I did." Daniel turned. Miranda was leaning against the doorframe. She smiled slightly. "I thought something familiar would help you adjust. You really should change your locks every now and again." She crossed the room to stand before him. He could see himself reflected in her eyes. "I know this has been a shock for you. Coming back from the dead. Working for Cerberus."

"Finding out that you aren't dead." He stared at her. Faint white lines crisscrossed her cheek. He wondered if Balak had given her those scars or if they were newer. Someday, when he could look at her and see Operative Lawson instead of Dr. Donovan, he would ask her. "I'd say that counts as a shock.

She looked down. Her voice was quiet, sad. "I wish there had been another way."

"At least Balak's dead. That ought to count for something." He cleared his throat. "Thank you for getting my stuff. I appreciate it."

She inhaled squared her shoulders, and looked up at him. "Those ships weren't the only thing I found." She took something out of her pocket and held it out to him. It took him a moment to realize he was staring at a ring. Plain gold. Single sapphire. Her engagement ring. No, scratch that. The ring he would had given her if Balak and friends hadn't gotten around to blowing up her ship before he could ask her.

Her voice quivered slightly. Nervousness? Fear? He'd never known her to be either. "You have a right to have it back. Who knows? We may all survive this, after all. You may be able to get some use out of this thing and ask Dr. T'Soni to marry you."

She thought... she thought the ring was for Liara? He wanted to laugh. "It wasn't for her. That ring is five years old."

"Five years old? But --" Realization spurred across her face. She blushed. "I see. Well, er, I'm flattered." She ran her fingers through her. Her words tumbled over themselves, and he had a strange feeling that she was talking more to herself than him. "Thank you. Very... romantic of you. And stupid and sentimental. I suppose I should be grateful that you never got a chance to ask. It's not like I could have accepted."

He tapped the Cerberus logo on her uniform. "No. I don't suppose you could have."
