Never know, Metroid is not as popular as it used to be.

Theres probably things I haven't thought of but I was classifying most hand-to-hand under brute strength. I assume Miranda can use biotics in interesting ways during hand-to-hand combat (barriers to block shots is one thing I can think of).Jebel Krong wrote...

I was reading a Miranda story, and a reviewer complained that Miranda was able to beat Shepard in a hand-to-hand fight because "he's Commander Shepard" It got me thinking: what sort of things might Miranda plausibly be better at than Shepard. She acknowledges that he's got a fire she doesn't and is practically perfect, but the idea that she's second best at everything irks me.
For the record, I suspect that they're pretty evenly matched at hand-to-hand and the winner would come down to other factors.
My soldier shep would only be better at leadership, gun play, and brute strength. Everything else, Miranda will be better and usually by a long mile.
what?seriously, whatever shep you play, he/she is still a highly-trained spec-ops soldier - they would outmatch anyone in hand-to-hand....

But biotics won't work against armor. So, unless Shep takes off the armor, Miranda's biotics are uselss.
That's pure game mechanics with no grounding in ME lore. Biotics use mass effect fields. Armor consists of objects with a mass and is not inherently protected by a kinetic barrier. It follows that someone in armor can be Thrown and Pulled by biotics just as if that someone was heavier by the armor's mass.Karstedt wrote...

I've ignored other threads for a while now... what new mechanic?Karstedt wrote...
A lot of people (myself included) made that exact argument when critiziting the new mechanic... and they got called whiners & haters.
The ME2 mechanic where biotics don't affect a target wearing armour, when by the laws of physics they should.gutty47 wrote...

I don't think the scenario fails. Game mechanics and lore consistency needn't necessarily run parallel all the time, but when considering a scenario from a story and characterization perspective it's usually best to ignore the former in favor of the latter. Especially when the game mechanics make no sense lore-wise in the first place.Karstedt wrote...

You two are just wihining because your epic biotic hand to hand scenario got derailed. H8erS! I've got an army of idiots on my side, you don't stand a chance!
I'll be interested to see if they make Karpyshyn write the new book with ME2 style mechanics. Do they keep book continuity or game continuity?

Um, my first time in here. Just want to add my vote to the bucket of Miranda appreciators. She is indeed very interesting and uber-hot lady she is.
Thank you and welcome. And it's a nice screenshot.
I noticed that you are in a number of character support groups, but not in Miranda's. Isn't this an undesirable state of affairs? See my sig for the link.
BTW, what's been going on here? Do people suddenly have time to do nothing but post here? The speed of this thread is crazy.

I don't recall if Karpyshyn did it in his ME books, but I doubt it. This little biotics vs armor detail should have absolutely no impact on what he's writing if he knows his job.

that is really good. i do hope they keep the unique squad outfits for mass effect 3 - they do promote the characters' individuality far more than generic armour...
