I think #2 is actually a likely scenario, but it won't cause me to lose respect for her or anything.

I really don't.

It is something game developers tend to avoid like the plague: having the player lose control of their character.

Risk of indoctrination =/= getting indoctrinated.

Hey everybody! Back from classes. Thank you Darth for sending the troll info to Stanley Woo, greatly appreciated.
I feel left out now, I have L4D2 but for PC, that's even worse :'( Cuz I wanna play with you all.
Oh well I still have GTA4 and Gears ^-^ And Kab is playing GTA with us today which should be fun, and Nadia still needs to get GTA4! :P

So GTA4 today! awesome!

Jtav... I say number two, I dont think they'll lose control of the character though.

Would this happen to be the quote?

CaseyH-ME2: We actually want to make sure these characters survive the ME2 story, which ultimately is a suicide mission: some of your crew will almost certainly die. Some of the ME1 characters are back, and recruitable (more than you might think), and the ones that aren't still play an important role in the story and will be around for ME3 - which we can't say for the new characters.

Which means that the ones who aren't recruitable will not necessarily appear at all. Which actually means that the ones who do come back are are more likely to be recruitable. I have little fear for Miranda - she's important for the story, she's an LI, and she's very popular. I'll be a bit anxious until we see ME3, of course, but I think at least two thirds of the ME2 cast of 12 will be higher up on the blacklist than Miranda.

In a vain attempt to live up to my title:
Is there anything that could be revealed about Miranda in ME3 that would destroy your affection for her. I have two:
1) Her father was merely cold or distant and had never done anything to warrant taking Oriana. I take a dim view of child kidnappers and an even dimmer view of being manipulated so thoroughly.
2) She knowingly implanted Reaper tech into Shepard and knew there was a risk of indoctrination.

I don't rate either scenario as likely.

Neither of these scenarios would bother me in the slightest.

For your first scenario, cold/distance is a matter of perspective anyways. From Miranda, you are going to hear that her father was an abusive S.O.B. and from her father himself, you are going to hear a number of reasons why Miranda was wrong to take Oriana from him. I have a feeling this scenario could come up, but it's a matter of who you believe and who you don't believe. Miranda isn't going to admit that she wasn't abused to you, otherwise it wouldn't make sense for her to have taken her sister at all.

For the second, that also wouldn't bother me. I play as a Renegade Shepard and as such, I have the view that humanity should do everything necessary to stop the Reapers. If using their technology against them is what is necessary. However, I strongly doubt this scenario will happen anyways. If Miranda had implanted Reaper technology into Shepard that would run a risk of him being indoctrinated, why didn't the Reapers use that against him when he took on the Collector Base? I was under the impression that creating the Human-Reaper was necessary to bring about the destruction of organic life again and once Shepard ruined that plan, they said "we will find another way." Why would the Reapers not use that technology to stop him in the first place?

You want to explain that one to me?  I have yet to know of an example of resisting the indoctrination.  Of course it is Shepard we are talking about here.

What did you have in mind?

I don't think 2) is likely because I don't think she would knowingly subject Shep to a strong risk of indoctrination and then not tell him, especially if you romanced her. Unknowingly...

(1) Definitely. (2), it depends on how risky it was. Some things are worth a little risk. Here's a third one: if she was knowingly involved in the event on Akuze and what was done to Toombs. I consider that unlikely, fortunately.

@fire: Yup it's to celebrate Kab getting it today. He will be on sometime later, so there is no specified time yet.

I don't see Cerberus implanting Shepard with reaper tech if they knew that there was a risk of him being indoctrinated. They said they wanted to bring him back exactly as he was, so why try to "upgrade" him with reaper tech if there is a chance of him becoming indoctrinated and following the reapers.

Re: Akuze. I could see some kind of indirect involvement like suggesting thresher maw venom would make for a great weapon, and I could forgive her that if she were horrified. But yes, actually being involved involved in the details would earn her a slow and painful death.

The third scenario is a little "eh". I think this one depends on how you played the game. As I said, I play as a Renegade Shepard and from my experience in playing the game, Shepard has a habit of siding with Cerberus quite a bit on the Renegade side. In fact, his siding with Renegade happens so often that I am almost convinced (I at least think it's highly likely) that a Renegade Shepard will be working with Cerberus in the next game. If she was involved with the Azuke event, it really wouldn't bother me all that much.

To hear some people on another thread tell it, I must be crazy. I'm a straight female who loves Miranda. Apparently, the only good thing about her is the fanservice.

Nah, you are just a person that can appreciate a great character that was well-written with a number of flaws that only make that character all the greater :D.

If it gets as pointless as last night before the racing then probably not.  I was getting kinda bored I was just trying to be polite.  If we're going to go on GTA I'd rather do something that isn't the typical internet ZOMG! LETZ KILL EACH OTHER!

One of the ironic things about the thread is that people were hating more on her appearance than they were on her personality or her character design.

Given this stance, someone should start a Tali hate thread about her being a fanservice character. After all, her personality is only cute to most people because she is so nerdy. They simply lack the ability to overlook the fact that she is a very ignorant character .

Sshhh..... we dont want to get swamped and turn this into WWIII. You do make good points you can throw any character into the fanservice box..... Bioware makes games so their fans will buy them.
