I've always thought that her view of herself as nothing more than a tool was much deeper than Cerberus. She was a means to an end for her father, a way to continue his legacy and in a messed up way gain immortality. I honestly see her father giving her everything that money could buy, but psychologically tormenting her at the same time. I see him telling her with every chance that he got that she was only an extension of himself and only as good as he allowed her to be. Letting her know at every turn what her destiny and future would hold for her and slowly wearing down her sense of individuality.

Kind of on-topic: If anyone has read the Son of Suns trilogy by blank on FF.net then I see how the Emperor broke Luke the same way I see Miranda's father breaking her mentally (minus the torture of course). If you haven't read it then DO SO. Its really amazing. jtav I think you would like it if you're into Star Wars at all and want to see what would happen if Vader caught Luke on Cloud City.

Thanks for the rec. Another, more dubious, scrap of evidence is that Miranda can lash out verbally in very brutal ways ("clearly you were a mistake") I suspect she might have learned it from dear old dad.

@Jtav I think she was abused, abuse is a broad definition. It sounds like Miranda's father always played mind games with her.... You can play some cruel mind games with children.

Sorry to break it to you, Nadymuffin, but the copy I rented is borked up. Damned rental store used a "disc cleaner" on it or something. They often do more harm to than good. I'm gonna go try to exhange it for a different copy tomorrow.
