Ah, on LJ? I actually think its a plausible theory and seems to be along the same lines as what I was thinking. I think mental "torture" can be a lot more harmful than physical. In a way he tried to brainwash her it seems, so that she would fit his image and become an extension of himself and his empire.

People can really underestimate mental/emotional abuse, and I think Miranda had it. In spades. If you want evidence, just look at her behavior.
